Guest Johnny Mack Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Roger You must have been reading my mind - I pulled and played this yesterday and was wondering if it was an Original. Just had a look and there's an "R" stamp clear as day.

As mentioned above it is the "H" Stamped copy that is the one to be careful with. We now have an Example of an Original "H" Stamped DEMO. Scan Courtesy of Alan (GIVEMESOUL) For Further Information Regarding the "H" Stamped Click On This Label Below This one is an Example of an Original "H" Stamped copy. The colours and credit layout is different to the Counterfeit Copy, also "H" Stamped.

Anoraks Corner Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 (edited) Isn't there also a plain orangey label lookalike stock copy bootleg with no pressing stamps at all? Edited July 30, 2008 by Anoraks Corner
45cellar Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Isn't there also a plain orangey label lookalike stock copy bootleg with no pressing stamps at all? Yes I believe that there is. Unfortunately I haven't a scan at the moment, I will try to find one.
Guest Catfish Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) Sorry to re-ignite a thread that is about 10 months old but it's the only relevant search result.. I have an 'issue' type copy which is yellow (quite a dark yellow) , dark red & black printing, moulded in label, and have had one person tell me it is probably real and one person tell me it is a boot. BUT then I looked closer and noticed something else which gave me a glimmer of hope.. on the 'Prove Yourself a Lady' side is a very small stamp in the run-out : 'SOLID SILVER'. I wish I could label scan but I don't have this facility. Can anyone offer an opinion on this please? Thanks Michele Edited December 11, 2008 by Catfish

Guest alanbonthrone Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 This is my bootleg, is that what you are looking for? P Thank,s For Your Reply,But Your,s Is Different. The One In Question Is Beige/Brown With Compass Points (As Scan) And A Stamped "H". Thank,s Again For Your Reply
Ernie Andrews Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 According to JMs Latest guide only the Rstamped are original. I used to be mad on the compass label when I was young and maybe my mind is going but in the 70s I am sure their was 3 pressing plants used for this record.

I Agree Throughout the Label I have always been led to believe that 3 pressing plants used.

You are right, there was 3 pressing plants used for originals. H, I, R. stamps used, signify the different plants. I think one of the various bootlegs has a fake H stamp. Guest alanbonthrone Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 How Can You Tell If It Is A Fake Stamp ? All The Best Alan.
Guest allnightandy Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 What about this one ? looks like a pressing to me , but it is from the States ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120899140849?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Benji Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Just a short question: My understanding is, that the H stamped demo is a bootleg. Am I right? Thanks!

I wouldn't go by the stamps. If if it's an issue they're easy to tell by the label, if it's a demo then the originals are quite thin vinyl whilst the boots are thick chunky ones.
Benji Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 That's fine when you have the record in your hands. But all I have is email communication with the seller

Benji Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 It's a demo, that's why I asked if H stamped demos are kosher or not. Original issue is dead easy to identify. But demo isn't.
