Bought a couple of records on here 3 weeks ago from a UK member. Instant payment on paypal.

Recieved an email from seller 2 weeks ago saying that he had been busy but that records would be despatched next day. I emailed him a week later to say still not received and asking what position was. Still waiting for a reply/records.

The records were not expensive but surely there is an obligation when selling to provide a service that goes beyond advertising the records and pocketing the cash.

It may be that there is a reasonable explanation but as things stand I won't be purchasing from this individual again.

Sounds like the same seller I bought from around the same time and still no records.

Gary

Name names - if anyone bought something from me they would have them in 2-3 days max.

Obviously there can be circumstances but it would be easy enough to communicate and sort out.

Had a couple of PM's - Looks like we've bought off the same seller.

I sell a bit on eBay, and on lists on Soul Source etc... but i also have a full time job, so sometimes I'm not able to get to the Post Office during opening hours...

I try to mail out midweek and Saturdays, but on occaision it is only on Saturdays, so if you paid one Saturday teatime, and it wasn't mailed until the following Sat morning, factor in Sunday and a couple of days on top for the Post Office to deliver it and your up to ten days already...

I wouldn't personally enquire about a record until it was 14 days after payment, and only start a claim after 28 days, as 'shit happens'; maybe I'm a little more forgiving than most, but standard 'delivery' times are within 28 days of payment for businesses, so I don't see why it should be any different for record dealers or 'hobby' sellers.

On the other hand it only takes a minute or two to mail a customer and let him/her know if there will be a delay posting.

does that mean its you joe ?

Nope, everything I've had payment for has been sent out, except one which i received a Paypal payment for on Weds and one where the cheque ain't cleared yet...

Unfortunately not.

Think both of you should PM/e-mail him asking for a sensible response and an ETA for your records. Failure to do this within a reasonable timescale will result in him being named by you on SS, so that other potential SS buyers are fully aware of the difficulties you've had.

There may be a valid reason for not sending (although 3 weeks is starting to stretch the credibility of that) - but there is little excuse for not answering correspondence - that only takes a few minutes.

Just a suggestion.

I have bought a couple of things from Pikey's Kennel of Sounds and I must say always a prompt service. I have also been fortunate that on two occasions two members have sent me records before receiving payment for them. I won't name them as I believe their good nature could be abused by some.

Shame.

As this was a Soul Source member sales section transaction, would be interested to know member's id. If you'd care to pm me info, see what I can do.

Did you (& others) know that you can do all the postage stuff online via Paypal now Joe ? You can purchase & print out the postage label & then just drop it in any post box. Obviously a problem if it's a large package, but good enough for up to about 5 singles, saves the hassel of having to go to the post office.

Used it last time i sold a few & never had any comebacks with it, good thing is you have your proof of posting on file too so no problems tracing things

Surely that just proves you've paid for posting? what's to stop you printing it off and not sending the item?

I send everything recorded delivery - can't see how you can do that without having to queue up at the post office?

Got myself in a terrible two and eight just before Christmas.

Paid for a Tom Jones LP Ebay, 22 Nov, Pay Pal. Got it mid Jan. Turned out to be sh*t communicator - nothing more. But all the mutually withdrawn neg feedback agg, could have done without.

Lesson learned. Be patient.

You can send recorded just the same, just purchase it that way. It's tied in with Royal Mail so i guess a tracking code is assigned to the transaction when you purchase the chosen postage method ?

I did send a few like that, & to overseas too.

Worth having a look at, saves a lot of hassle & queuing thumbsup.gif

What's the point of coming on here and complaining about someone if you aren't prepared to say who it is? Surely we all should be told if there's someone dodgy on here? Bit of a pointless thread otherwise surely?

(btw it's not me) :wicked:

Don't recall accusing anyone of being 'dodgy' Matt. As a result of this thread I am now aware that there are at least two other people in the same position as myself having bought from the same seller at the same time and probably from the same list. I am also aware that this is not the first time buyers have had to wait longer than they would have reasonably expected before receiving their records. As such I am hopeful that the records will arrive eventually. The point of the thread was to ask whether others considered this acceptable.

Fair enough.

btw who was it....? :wicked:

Ive been and still going through a protracted disagreement with someone on here who I call dodgy and put it to the moderators that this person should be named and shamed in the strongest possible way because I know legally where I stood having all the evidence but I got no reply to my point of duty of care other than sort it out outside the forum which I thought was a wrong call on their part given the transaction was through here.

I feel we have a duty of care to each other on here and therefore the person should be named and shamed.

Thats my opinion
