45cellar Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) Not a bad version ....... Was HS the mother of Amy Whinearse ? ......... Malc Burton Her Voice was wasted at the Time, Not saying she wasn't successful, (didn't she once have The Beatles as supporting act in the early days). The Fab Four, Mersey Beat probably came just at the wrong time and stalled her career, shame. Just feel that with the right records she could have had a much better & bigger Impact late sixties. Similar to the likes of Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones etc. Edited February 6, 2008 by 45cellar

An amazing voice. QoFxx

The Beatles were part of the bill which Helen was headlining , that commenced at The Gaumont Cinema , Bradford , on the 2nd of February 1963 ....... Despite her headlining that package tour in 1963 , it was ironic that her chart career in respect of records , ended the same year ..... Malc Burton

Yes, and I don't know why. If Kiki Dee could record for Motown, Helen Shapiro could have "Beat Her To The Punch" SO TO SPEAK. She covered a couple of Motown tunes, Given the right circumstances, she could easily have Covered/recorded many more Soulful Tunes with her Voice. She appears to have been overlooked, where others progessed to greater things.
