Help Please To Trace Ebay Seller

The seller must have a Premier/Business account with the amount of sales. I didn't think with a Premier/Business account you needed to upgrade again, I thought once you were verified there were no limits to the amount you spent/received. I remember one when I hit £5,000.

Being a nosey parker, the seller has sold this in the last 120 days alone, so he may have been well over the £30,000 when he sold all those records before Christmas. If what he says about being verified again at £30,000 is true, he wouldn't have been able to transfer funds into his bank account and the money will still be sat in his pay pal account. With the disputes going in, pay pal will freeze any money in it to pay out should the disputes find in the buyers favour.

If you get no luck with Pay Pal you can always try the Financial Ombudsman, never had to go that far myself but worth considering. Pay Pal often sort things out quicker once the mention of FO comes into it, it costs pay pal £150 odd each time a complaint against them is lodged.

Seller didn't abide by the terms and conditions of pay pal to protect him as a seller, one rule : Post out item within 7 days of receiving payment.

You might be able to nobble him on that technicallity

David, if this helps, I have spoken to a collegue of mine who is a premier business sellar, the upgrade required at the £30k limit is as painless and straightforward as the default limit for us lesser mortals. Providing he has legitamate accounts it can be verified and cleared within 48 hrs. The only way PayPal would risk falling foul of a Premier Sellar(and losing all of their commissions that go with him) is if there were some problem with either his verification details, or - more likely - the account had been frozen pending investigation by Paypal/Ebay or external interested bodies!

You should have been refunded within days!

hi just read this thread

know this bloke from a few years ago,bought a few bits from me

wanted me to d.j for him,but as it was Inverness i wasnt keen,too far from Crewe

worked in a chemical company,had his home number and mobile

told me he was a guitarist in the 60s for a top band,but forget who

started off ok,bought things on chq,all cleared.......then one bounced

hadnt sent 45s,so rang him,usual story,bank took money out they shouldnt of

so gave me his card details,ok no worries

bought other bits on card,but always had to chase him,as he would order stuff

and not give me ok for payment

anyway,said he got knocked down once,so couldnt pay till back working

then ,it was had heart attack,

lucky i never sent stuff until i was sure things had cleared etc

know he bought a "naughty boy" orig of someone

anyway havnt contacted him since 2005

but if i can help in anyway pm me

No response to ebay dispute so closed and reported..what good that will do i knownot?

10 day demand letter sent recorded not responded to so Trading Standards said to get back to them against a case number already raised.

Some poor fellow in same boat over Rita & Tiaras.

A visit to Inverness seeming likely,

but would just like to be fair minded as i bought alfie davison demo off above seller early in year ,never played one side till recently to my horror it jumped even though it seemed perfect, contacted him to see if he could get me another one thinking i hadnt got a leg to stand on for some kind of refund as it had been so long,so traced up paypal invoice didnt know if he was on same phone no etc, but when i rang he answered and as i explained he said send it back and he would issue me with full refund and apologised was a bit hesitant as i only found out about all comments on here but he assured me not to worry i thought what the heck , guess what cheque arrived this morning for full amount inc postage

Thanks Vince and good luck with your DJ ing Nice to see some thing true for a change, having been involved with the soul scene from the beginning from a time when people loved the value of music not the money . what seems to have happened over a period of time is a greedy material minded minority have hijacked the scene hell bent on causing problems , what happened last year on ebay was a self fulfilling prophecy over a holiday period when every thing was closed for business 4 out of the 150 customers who bought records and had them delivered started a dispute with paypal at such a level it made it impossible to sort out in the short time . Having one of the best record collections from the era and not getting any younger I decided to sell some every year to help keep the music live in peoples mind, to give as much pleasure to a younger new group of people who were not born when this was made . The Vinces of this world who are doing a great job out there. I would like to thank all the customers over the years who have been kind in there feedback . I still sell records but not to the public any more only trade it seems a shame that a few spoilt it for so many . kind regards and a soulful Christmas to you all God Bless John L
