Pete S Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Hi Troutster ..no its not the chipping norton one Its definatley a UK only on (RCA i think) Alan Paterson plays it up here in Aberdeen.. Im told its about £50..but I need more info regards Gasher link It is the same group as was on Chipping Norton. The RCA single was from 1968, one of the last black label releases, but they'd been on Pye before that and were notable for being the only black Merseybeat group.

Pete S Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 so smiffy have you got one for me then??? its UK so you must have it.haha the gasher link Been a couple of years since I had one. Title is wrong on the label by the way. This got played back in 78 when Minshull was spinning all the UK things, never really did anything, I always thought it was a brilliant record.
Simon T Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Gashster is that the same Chants as the "Chipping Norton" 45 (Chris and Eddie Amoo - Real Thing) ??????? Can't say as i know this one Trouty link Chris won Cruffs with his Afgan hound a few years ago!

Guest Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 A couple of weeks ago I posted about the Holgate club York, and attached a track listing from a Holgate promo tape by Chris Holmes. Track 12 The Chants = Baby I don't need your love [uK RCA] He might have also spun this at the Wilton.. Great tune.. Cheers, Derek.
Platters 81 Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 they also did a good version of the Spellbinders "For you" (flip of Chain Reaction) on UK Page One (same year 1967).....
jocko Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 CHANTS 45 BABY I DON'T NEED YOUR LOVE anyone give me any info price ect/available? also anyone send me a sound file please the gasher link One of the biggest sounds in Scotland in 78 to 82 for Bruce Hanning (RIP) and Jolly, never heard it much down South and not heard it many places since early 80's. Was there not a very rare demo (green?), not big on British so welcome any corrections!!! Cheers Jock

Pete S Posted March 27, 2005 Posted March 27, 2005 so what is the correct title please Pete?? or whats wrong with it? the gasher link On the label it says Baby I Don't Need Your Love but it should have been baby I Don't Want To Lose Your Love. I have an interesting fact about this release, right next to it or a couple of numbers away is a vocal version of Paradox - Ring the changes.
Gasher Posted March 27, 2005 Author Posted March 27, 2005 Hi Pete..thanks for that useless piece of extra info haha the gasher

Paul McKay Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Here you go Gasher: CHANTS RCA 1754 A MAN WITHOUT A FACE / BABY I DON'T NEED YOUR LOVE Released 18/10/1968 Green demo. Fantastic track. Last one I saw for sale was £60 for an issue copy. Paul SITC
BrianB Posted March 28, 2005 Posted March 28, 2005 Ginger's got a copy. He rarely plays it though. He put it on a tape for me around 10 years ago. I agree that it is a brilliant record. Really should be played more often. Its also on the Goldmine CD GSCD49 British Soul Volume 1. The Chants later became the Real Thing as well as winning Crufts.

Fantastic record, close second to John Andrews in the 'best of British' stakes IMVHO
