phatspinner Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Can someone give me an idea of current value of both Fee and Grapevine issues? Quite like it myself but not everyone's cup of tea I guess? Phatspinner
Simon M Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Can someone give me an idea of current value of both Fee and Grapevine issues? Quite like it myself but not everyone's cup of tea I guess? Phatspinner Orange Fee , is about £75 or more now
Pete S Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Orange Fee , is about £75 or more now Seriously??? I sold that for 10 quid about 6 weeks ago, I honestly didn't think it had any value at all! You could just buy it as a new release, there were millions of them.
Martyn Pitt Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Orange Fee , is about £75 or more now with Pete on this, would have thought £10 max. Martyn

Simon M Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Oh well, serves me right for not looking I suppose. What about the blue ones, arethey the same price? Probably yeah . BTW do you like it ?
Pete S Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Probably yeah . BTW do you like it ? Yeah, always liked it from it's very first play...loved to dance to it
Simon M Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Yeah, always liked it from it's very first play...loved to dance to it Yeah me too got it 1980 or 1981 from Soul Bowl , purchased it with Flame N King
Martyn Pitt Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 seriously Pete . on popsike they are quite high too https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180200707314 There are some people out there who need to take a serious look at themselves, there is no way that this is anywhere near rare, I must have two or three copies kicking around in various boxes here somewhere. There were loads of these about, they were bought in quantity as a new release in 77, every man and his dog bought one at the time. I would be embarrased to ask for more than £10 for it. Is it the buyers are getting too lazy to look properly. Martyn
Guest SteveJohnston Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 (edited) Yeah, always liked it from it's very first play...loved to dance to it Me to Pete but more than £10 i will dig mine out along with "how can i tell her" and put on sales I will never forget the first time it was played at the Casino I can close my eyes and see it now! But I was in the piss house under the Ritz when a DJ played it and me and every one in there fought the f*^king roof had fell on the dance floor. Stomping Heaven! Dazz Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Is it the buyers are getting too lazy to look properly. Martyn It's because there is a worldwide demand for them now and we had all the copies of that in Cannock mate search out those copies I'll have them for less than £10 Trust you are well

Is it worth letting out any of these Cecil Washingtons yet Martyn
phatspinner Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 And the Grapevine issue of Have Some Everybody? Is this harder or easier to obtain? I notice that JM does not have one in stock at present. Phatspinner
Kjw Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Can someone give me an idea of current value of both Fee and Grapevine issues? Quite like it myself but not everyone's cup of tea I guess? Phatspinner Blue Fee - £40 Orange Fee - £30 Grapevine - £10 Don't know if the blue one was first press or not but it's always been harder to find than the orange one
Guest Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Wouldn't mind a copy on Fee myself, feel free to PM me if you have a EX+/M- one for sale at a realistic price. Cheers Adam.

Prophonics 2029 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 (edited) The Orange one says FR-361-A 75 Mitte for a comparison to the blue, sure I had a blue one in 1976. £1.20 from Sinfonia Records. Edited January 25, 2008 by Prophonics 2029

Prophonics 2029 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Where did I get the 1976 from must have been later Doh!. My mate had a copy at school in the 5th year and I thought wow what a record.
Martyn Pitt Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Heres a thought .... the blue ones were re-issues, thing is everyone (and their dog) had bought an orange one, so there were fewer blue ones sold .... does that sound plausable Keiths prices look more realistic. Martyn
Guest Trevski Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I think the blue one is deffo second, but the orange is more widely available.
Simon M Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I think the blue one is deffo second, but the orange is more widely available. I prefer orange too
Martyn Pitt Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I prefer orange too With the orange one it is easier to find a lemon to pay £90 for it. Martyn
Simon M Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 With the orange one it is easier to find a lemon to pay £90 for it. Martyn I think James Trouble bought one last year ?
Guest miff Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 I had it on a light Blue one allways thorght it was a boot might still have it some where. Got it on a Grapevine Demo too so whats that go for
Steve G Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I had it on a light Blue one allways thorght it was a boot might still have it some where. Got it on a Grapevine Demo too so whats that go for Think Blue came first and it got re-pressed in orange in April 1977 when it took off at Wigan Great record by the way - the lead singer couldn't do the vocals so it's James Mitchell of the Detroit Emeralds on lead vocal.
Ian Seaman Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Yeah i would say the Blue ones came out 1st, the orange were the re issues, the blue one always seems to make more money and if you ask around i bet 7 out of 10 peeps have an orange one !! Grapvine stuff seems to be selling at a vast array of different prices these days I noticed Sam plays Flame n King off Grapevine
Prophonics 2029 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) The Orange one says FR-361-A 75 Mitte whats the matrix in the Blue. It could be the other way round, all the UK shops had a blue copy, So the blue could be a boot. I never saw an orange till only a few years ago. Edited January 27, 2008 by Prophonics 2029

Steve G Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I noticed Sam plays Flame n King off Grapevine Original UK release I guess Surprised he's not got it on a carver

The blue were about in plenty in 1977 -78 so were a lot of other records erh I should say boot's bought mine in 1977 either form spin inn HMV or soul bowl just searched internet and found this GRP 104 FLAMING EMERALDS: "Have Some Everybody" A 1977 recording from the Detroit Emeralds'backing group, this 10Omph dancer sold heavily on import three months before release here. I think the Flaming Emeralds are still going. They were young kids then. We sold the import and then thought, let's put it out and see what happens. i must admit to not looking for one but all the ones i have ever seen have been orange. mark

So whats the Matrix on the blue.
Steve G Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 why not put a little mark on the right side steve. mark Yes I'll do that. Anyone that wants to know more about the group (but not the blue and orange releases) should check out my article in Manifesto from a couple of years back on Fee Records - they also recorded on Venture. the FEs were the detroit Emeralds backing band, largely white, and came over to the UK on tour with the Detroit Emeralds several times. I have other Fees in blue (e.g. Leo Lyons - written by John Anderson ) and orange (e.g. NOW also the Detroit Emeralds moonlighting), so this is no great 1st / 2nd issue story, just different presses with different colour labels. Steve

Prophonics 2029 Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) Thats where I got my copy from - Memories of standing for hours in Sinfonia chatting with Sandy - Whatever happned to him? Many an afternoon spent playing those records from a cardboard box thinking I had really found a treasure. A lot of boots but I remember going there one Saturday (the little old shop before the flood) and asking him for a Terry Callier he said Oh! just a minute and popped down stairs came out with a copy for £1.20. I left the Fylde 28 years ago so lost contact. Edited January 27, 2008 by Prophonics 2029
