Now I cannot think of that many

But the one that sticks in my mind is

Harold Melvin : Get Out

You hear the intro

"Just Picked Up The Telephone"

You get on the dance floor and sort of sway around a bit until eventually it kicks in

any others where you get on the floor like a good un only to stand around looking a twat for about 20 - 30 seconds till they kick in

:)

Probably not the longest - but an intro I like.

Can't remember all the words off hand but

Blah, blah, blah................

Tonight it feels like we're the only two people in the world

Oh, by the way

Did you bring your guitar?

All I need is moonlight music and you.

Laura Greene

Still love it!

Harold seems to specialise in long intros. Add 'Prayin' to the long intro list  .

Brian

Presidents - Girl You Cheated on Me. Seems to go on forever but worth the wait

charles johnson.... let's face it, most of the vocals are just an intro to C.J. "letting rip" towads the end!..... just saying

Geoff played an Invitations track at the last Blue Skies amd I thought to myself this is going on a bit with no vocal. Went and got a beer and still no vocal, he'd put on the instrumental side - DOH! His set was definitely uphill from then though

How times have changed ......

If the record was done today , it would be " Oh , by the way - did you bring your condoms ? " .........

The live version of Compared To What - Les McCann and Eddie Harris. The intro goes on for ages before the vocal starts up.

30 years I've been waiting for the vocals to Interplay to kick in. Thats a doozy.

Matadors - You'd be crying too takes ages to get going then its a cracking record

Cynthia and The Imaginations - Love Is Real

j

I often wonder what they were smoking when they made that record. The song's 3 minutes but the intro is a minute long. Fab record when it gets going, but I bet most people like me stopped playing it after the first 30 seconds of the intro.

Ray Charles-What I'd Say Brilliant!!!

How about Dj Genisis - Tribute to Betty, 32 seconds before you hear her voice & what a lovely voice it is to.However the Dimitri of Paris mix only has a very short intro, groovy!! whistling.gif

Take care, be safe & wait for the words,

Spot.

Off topic but does J Tex you better believe it,have the biggest gap in a record that actualy works.

Too easy this.

Longest i know is the remix of What About My Love - Johnny Taylor.

Vocals dont kick in until 2 mins 19 seconds. Most early 60s Northern tracks finish in less time than that.

No wonder Sam's playing an edited version biggrin.gif

Not neccesarily the longest intro, but much as I love The MVPs 'Turnin my heartbeat up' I wish it would kick properly sooner!

And I've done exactly the same with a copy of The Invitations 'Look On The Goodside'.. intro is so long you stop listening

Joe Tex - Under your powerful love

you've just got to sway about a bit, tap your feet and do your stretches when this starts

until that stompin chorus kicks in

Yes, I must plead guilty to this faux pas. Guess it was nerves, and I didn't realise till halfway through. Sure I went bright red.

Think Nige and Carms played an instrumental of a Rotations track at Maria's do in Thorne on Saturday, not sure if it was deliberate. Good dancer though.

ANOTHER ONE WITH A LONG INTRO IS: VAN TREVOR - A FLING OF THE PAST-ON VIVID

Sorry Geoff, didn't mean to embarass you any more than already were, if you see what I mean. Speak later!

Don't worry Paul, I think I'm unembarassable (is there such a word?) after my alcohol intake at Boomerang, lol.

Do I win a prize?

The one I remember is the long piano intro to Highways of my life - Isley Bros on the 3+3 album - very nice it is too.
