How can people selling records ask for Paypal charges of 3% on top - The seller chooses to use paypal because it carries an insurance scheme which is part of the charge but the seller does not carry that to the buyer.

If I send a cheque no-one on here expects me to pay their bank charges- Or do they?

think its to cover the paypal charges,some people ask some dont,some people pay it others send cash or cheque.Im not sure but i think its against PP policy to ask for this.I know you are not suppose to do it on ebay but outside of that im not totally sure

The way I see it, most sellers accept paypal because it quick and convinient, and also allows to buyer to pay by credit card if the seller cannot normally accept payment by CC.

If a £500 record is paid for by paypal, the seller can lose a large chunk of their profit to Paypal.

As for insurance, isn't the buyer covered moreso than the seller...to cover paying for goods that might not be sent by fraudulent sellers?

The seller wouldn't send goods until payment had cleared their paypal account, so how does the insurance benefit the seller?

It used to be one of the conditions if you make a claim,

that you haven't charged extra to cover PayPals charges, passing them on to the buyer.

I prefer to use PayPal, but those charges are a bit steep.

Saves a lot of other hassle though, a must for overseas.

All in all I prefer it.

fookin dear old pay-pal

the charges stink which is around 4% so can make a big impact on a big ticket sale , takes almost as long to get your money out as banking a cheque would, but is so much preffered by the buyers out there

And as 45 cellar stated, is most useful when it comes down to overseas on both buying and selling fronts

All in all it just gets my vote
