Has anyone heard the original version of Niki Hoeki, as covered by PJ Proby & if so is it any good?

The stuff I have heard by him remind me more of Little Johnny Taylor but they are 60's recordings, he might have gone more like Hendrix in the 70's

Yup, same guy. Still going strong on the Chitlin' circuit in the US. Famous for his large female dancers ("Bobby Rush likes 'em big") and his Southern hit 'Sue'. He has toured this side on the pond on many occasions, but mostly in France/Germany/Italy.

Jim Ford's original demo recording of this tune is apparently going to be released on the forthcoming second Jim Ford anthology CD from Bear Family. It should be out in February or so. LOADS of versions of this track out there by the way.
