Guest Una Scot-Oz Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Your quite right it ain't from the first anniversary. It's early 1974 Feb. i think and i'm 99% certain i am standing just to the left above the coloured guy. Orange singlet with patch and black parry's. Have kept the sleeve of footsee for the memories but oh no i would'nt play the record now, well not unless someone said go-on then. I think it is Steve Caesar standing in front of me. Happy, happy day's indeed. Spread the faith. Tony, Western Australia. Is that really you (without your suntan!) Tony? See you in November!

BrianB Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 It may be just me , but in the middle of the photograph - to the right as you view it - is the chap with the Elvis sideboards snuggling into the other one's neck ? ....... Malc Burton Its another Burnley guy called Ian Magnall. His brother Chris is also on the photo. Ian is leaning into Gary Stansfield, also from Burnley. Ian had them sidies at school when he was 14! He wasn't really into soul, more progressive style music, but he always enjoyed going to Wigan.
Vanda Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Whats happened to him Harry, do you know? I always think the premiership referee Phil Dowd looks just like Barry. Hi Pete, Phil Dowd lives at the side of my house, I know his family, it definitely isn't any body called Barry Vanda. Hi

I will always remember BOOTLACE for his genarosity, In particular myself and Chris Gallard from Letchworth were at the Mecca on a rare night we had no transport, BOOTLACE made sure that we got on the STOKE coach to get to WIGAN, only a small thing to do but he cared about every one on the scene, I personaly will never forget the man and his appite for CAPS DAVE KIL

Eamesy Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) The fella on the right hand side in the white shirt and sidies is Steve Pitt from Reading.Use to pick up from him in a pub called The Frog...God it was scarey!! Guest smartypantsnancy Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) You beat me to it Brian........the Accrington lads are also there......John Cunliffe, Fred Waterhouse, Steve `Pip` Holloway, Dougie Anderton,Martin Clough and im sure "Bootlace" is in there...the hairy guy near the top. It was from 1973 - 74. OMG I just found a copy of this record in my cupboard a couple of days agao and then saw this thread. I was 15/16 at the time and have written all over it. Malc Burton howling at this!... your observations/comments are hilareous ... cheered me up x
Guest familytree Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I think that it was taken on the first anniversary. the reason being is that the girl in the centre of the photo is Cath from ormskirk and the guy with curly hair at the far right looking right is Keith Dickinson her boyfriend. Unless I'm very much mistaken, they only went once to Wigan, although they were Mecca regulars for a while. Keith lived at the Greyhound Pub in Ormskirk. Paul are you paul rimmer from ormskirk.. sister christine? if you are i know you!... if your not i dont x
Jill Bayles Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Oh and before l forget my ex-wife is there at the top of the pic in the middle dancing 'side-on' Well I never...God Phil I'd never have guessed that was Mal

Guest Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Neil Griffiths from Thurcroft - Rotherham. Never went anywhere without his scarf on! Nope, that is Mr Steven "Pip" Holloway from Accrington.
Scal Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I don't think it is Steve C. on the Footsee cover. To the right of the guy who is supposedly Steve C. and wearing a white Simon type shirt is a lad called Jeff who was from Middleton. To his right at approx 2o'clock is the head of a lad with dark hair and sideburns....this is Cess from Oldham. The colour photo with Stuart Cosgrove, Steve C. etc on, isn't the girl to the left of the picture called Dell, she used to hang around with Frank and was from Yorkshire.....Halifax, Huddersfield.
Addio Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Girl in forefront of photo loking to the right is Kay Hargreaves from Hinckley.
Quinvy Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Spotted myself in the photo, top left corner, inch and a half in. Amazing! As I never went to Wigan. 2
clarky22 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Guy in the middle with the vest could be a very young Seaun Ruslin from Hull! Hes now chairman of the Gulf Vetrans!! this is to early for it to be shaun rusling fom Hull i believe the guy you think is shaun is Titch Farlowe from Newton Aycliffe Shaun started going to casino around 76-77 1

All the best Dave

Frankie Crocker Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Is this photo now like the Kennedy election? There are more names than people on the photo! It definitely wasn't the 1st anniversary, because I'm on the photo, spookily enough with my wife, who I had not met at the time, and I missed the 1st anniversary due to a 21st do in Blackpool with my mates from Burnley. I then missed the Wigan coach 'cos we had a not so friendly chat with some footy fans at the back of the car park. Laney will remember which team it was on that occasion, as it was weekly event with the Burnley Crew. Well reasoned Brian. I always thought it was the first anniversary but on this basis, it is evidently not.
Frankie Crocker Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Your quite right it ain't from the first anniversary. Happy, happy day's indeed. Spread the faith. Tony, Western Australia. It is not February 1974. I went to the Casino on 24/3/74 and 31/3/74, first two occasions, and I am sort of in the picture, very top with shirt only visible...read on. A roughly similar picture features on the Soul Function DVD and The Wigan Casino Story CD GCSD51 and I can clearly see myself. Sadly, I can not name any fellow dancers but recognise about five of them as regulars, memorable in some way. About half a dozen people feature in the two photos wearing the same clothes, some almost in the same positions. The shirt I am wearing is very distinctive and was bought in the summer of 1974 - I went to the Casino a few weeks before the first anniversary to get a ticket so I suspect the Footsee photo was taken in late August or early September 1974, perhaps 31/8/74 or 7/9/74. Another version of the Footsee photo appeared in Blues and Soul edition # 209. If folk who attended roundabout the above dates could check these other photos, we might be able to make a few more positive ID's.

Yep, maybe late August. The Casino was heaving. Getting in was a real scrum with just half the front door open and everyone pushing in at the front.
