Just sorting a few records and came across the (in)famous "Footsee" on Pye Disco Demand and wondered if any of the people pictured on the sleeve are Soul Source members, or can you put a name to a face.

Only one I think I know is Steve Caesar (the black guy!) correct me if I'm wrong.

I really hope this thread gets to name as many folk on that photo as possible....be nice to put names to 'em...I suppose at the time...it was just another photo of early Casino...but it's influence was more ground breaking IMO because it made folk like me curious about this Northern soul scene back then... ....Delxxx

Don't think that is ceaser. This is Ceaser, with Peter Ayre just behind Stuart Cosgrove's shoulder, then myself and ? and Pat, not 100% about the date, maybe around 77/78 at Wigan

It's a long time ago so the memory's a bit fuzzy but I'm sure the little guy in the light coloured vest and white trousers looking like he's riding an invisible horse is Tich Farlowe from Newton Aycliffe. Great lad around a lot in the 70's

I think that it was taken on the first anniversary. the reason being is that the girl in the centre of the photo is Cath from ormskirk and the guy with curly hair at the far right looking right is Keith Dickinson her boyfriend. Unless I'm very much mistaken, they only went once to Wigan, although they were Mecca regulars for a while. Keith lived at the Greyhound Pub in Ormskirk.

The dark guy is Philip (Fred) Adedeji from Aspull Wigan often see dancing on or near the back wall of Mr M's he could shake a leg could Fred fast dancer, he later (79 to 85) had a burger van that he parked out side of the Casino after doing the little industrial est. at the bottom on Sir Matt Busby way at United home games I remember when the Coal strike was on the Police stopped him selling out side of Old Trafford so he put a sign on the window FREE BUGERS and a bucket on the serving hatch and a notice saying all donations to the Miners that really pisst the old bill off  can't remeber many donations reaching the pits wink.gif

Thanks for that.

I can't believe I forgot, cos I was actually going with Lorraine for a couple of weeks. I am sure she has a couple of sounds I lent her (or did she lend them to me?)

They were great lasses, and attached themselves to the Burnley crowd for some reason.

Thanks again,

Yes it's definitely Tich - I seem to recall he took a bit of ribbing about it. Aycliffe was a bit of a Soul fortress in those days with everyone and their dog into the music.A great Soul history for a small Durham town.

All the best

And we call him Footsee Farlow because of this

Aycliffe still is fulll of NS fans and has many regular soul nights. The Big Club each month is very popular inthe North East. I can 'back home' to it when I can

Is this photo now like the Kennedy election? There are more names than people on the photo!

It definitely wasn't the 1st anniversary, because I'm on the photo, spookily enough with my wife, who I had not met at the time, and I missed the 1st anniversary due to a 21st do in Blackpool with my mates from Burnley.

I then missed the Wigan coach 'cos we had a not so friendly chat with some footy fans at the back of the car park.

Laney will remember which team it was on that occasion, as it was weekly event with the Burnley Crew.

Your quite right it ain't from the first anniversary. It's early 1974 Feb. i think and i'm 99% certain i am standing just to the left above the coloured guy. Orange singlet with patch and black parry's. Have kept the sleeve of footsee for the memories but oh no i would'nt play the record now, well not unless someone said go-on then. I think it is Steve Caesar standing in front of me. Happy, happy day's indeed. Spread the faith.
