How many releases did this get. Was there a UK issue? Was it booted?

I have it on Chess blue paper 1967 I think.

Wasn't it released on the subsidiary checker as well?

If so, which was the original release?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have it on U.K. Chess Blue Paper.

I'll hunt it out and provide the scan.

Here is the US Checker 1188

Thanks. Do you know the values on both the US Checker and UK Chess?

Here's the U.K.

Manships 3rd Edition has the Checker Stock Copy @ £30 & DEMO @ £50

I'm not sure what the current Value is.

Record Collector 2008 Edition has the U.K. Chess @ £12

Here's >>> LINK <<< Earlier this month with some prices.

Mentions Cadet ? possibly in error, and meant Checker.

Different Prices to the ones I have, might be current Value.

I must get a New Price Guide. :D

For anyone who cares to take note of such things, the UK Chess copy is in stereo, while the US Checker is mono - which means that it must have been mastered from tape here rather than disc dubbed, like so many US releases were back then....

also, aint the UK chess from the 70's? (certainly the scan shown) am sure I bought it as a current release way back then from the local record shop, before I got a Checker copy (always liked flip too Uh "Hum")

If its from the 70's why does it give the date as 1967 on the label?

CHESS UK ISSUE STEMS FROM 1972 JUDGING BY THAT CATALOGUE NUMBER.

BEST BRI.

..sounds bout right to me Bri, Andy! think the date ya see will be the original publishing date of release states side, Bit like say... Adam's Apples "Dont Take It Out On This World" the Uk Brunswick shows a date of 1963, even tho it a 70's release over here

As I recall, this was issued here almost as soon as it was first spun in the early days of the scene - thereby killing it off as a 'rarity' before it had a chance to reach its full potential first time round. I remember that the same thing happened to Billy Harner's "What About The Music" - played one week on US Kama Sutra, issued here within the month.

Major record companies were a bit more keen to capitalise quickly on any demand for their back catalogue back then!

Why do all the UK copies of this 45 always have no centre?

Chess was distributed here then by what was Phonogram records. They used an 'injection mould' process on some of their records, while most of the others were pressed like Joy L, with paper labels and not excatly no centre but, rather, one of those three pronged spiders that are so hard to find these days.

Other UK Chess 45s that were pressed like this include the Dells' "The Love We Had" and "It's All Up To You", to name but two.

Phonogram had pretty much phased out paper label pressings by 1974, after which point almost all of their 45s were injection mould pressings until they started reintroducing paper labels on some records towards the end of the decade (I've got a Siouxsie & the Banshees' "Hong Kong Garden" with a paper label, for instance...)

That always puzzled me because it was from 1966 not 1963.

Also Joy Lovejoy stayed in print for a few years in the Uk and came out on one of those plastic labels too
