Guest posstot Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Can i throw in Rudy Clark as a writer...?? anybody actually know much aboot this fella.. Then on a production side of things...relevant to New York music sound Bert Keyes Teacho Wiltshire, and also one of our musics most profound producers arrangers who, I feel, helped form at least the "shape" of the northern sound Mr. H.B Barnum...produced early o'jays...little star records..involved heavily with Capitol records. Or am i talkin cccccrrrrap as usual?
Guest posstot Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Holland Dozier Holland They, along with Smokey Robinson, changed the American popular music scene. Could you argue that out of Smokey and co, Grew Lennon/Mcartney....
steve z Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Could you argue that out of Smokey and co, Grew Lennon/Mcartney.... Hiya ,I put out a similar topic some time ago.....PIED PIPER Production takes some beating.ATB Stevie
Harry Crosby Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Could you argue that out of Smokey and co, Grew Lennon/Mcartney.... Gotta agree there, thats a very valid point
Citizen P Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Popcorn/Wylie ashford/simpson with or without jo armstead Tony
Guest Dante Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 My faves: Pied Piper Ashfor & Simpson But the most influential, without a doubt is Holland-Dozier-Holland. Without them, all the rest would'nt exist as we know them... Cheers Dante
Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Stock-Aitken and Waterman-------------so soulful it hurts--------------------OOOPS!! Here comes my medication!!! Tony C.CURTIS MAYFIELD NO1
Stubbsy Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 For me it's gotta be: Holland, Dozier, Holland - (no one else get's anywhere near them IMHO)! Gamble & Huff Ashford & Simpson
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Holland/Dozier/Holland Gamble and Huff and well not one person has mentioned Dunbar/Wayne i loved some of there stuff they did for Chairmen of the Board.
Guest Paul Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Here are some more great teams... Hayes & Porter Penn & Oldham Banks & Hampton Gamble & Huff Proctor & Gamble Lambert & Butler Marks & Spencer Bradford & Bingley
Ady Croasdell Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Popcorn/Wylie ashford/simpson with or without jo armstead Tony Or even Wylie/Hester! It is 'round midnight. I dig Banks/May Banks/Kelley Shirley Matthews songs produced by Fred Smith arr by James Carmichael And Bacharach/David take some beating.

Gert Mark Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Could you argue that out of Smokey and co, Grew Lennon/Mcartney.... Smokey, Gordy, HDH etc definatly drew a new line with regards the process of making and more importantly selling records. But they were all very genorous with there music, eg. if the Temps sounded better than Smokey, they got the release. The scouse chancers guarded their stuff quite jealously i thought, mind you who could blame them. Also where does Frank Wilson fit in re team ups?
Citizen P Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Cannot believe nobody's mentioned VAN MCCOY Tony
