Guest Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Visited a few charity shops today amongst other things i picked up a most bizarre Us Stax lp release STS-5511 - LENA ZAVARONI - MA! HE'S MAKING EYES AT ME what the f*ck were they thinking of?? Derek
Guest Salv Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 It was one of Al Bell's attempts at diversification. Some of his plans worked - a Richard Pryor album, the soundtrack to Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, Wattstax - but some should have never been allowed, like the Lena Zavaroni album. Duck Dunn was quoted as saying "I knew it was all over when they signed Lena Zavaroni". The album wasn't recorded at Stax though, they just licensed a UK-recorded album for US release.

Lena incidently died anorexic and in poverty in a flat about 3 miles from where I live iN Cheshunt. Seems she had a pretty tragic life after her child star status which is sad .
