Am I going senile? I swear I saw a CD recently with 'Raindrops' by Barbara Acklin on it, but I have now searched the 'net for it and can't find it anywhere. In fact the only evidence I can find to suggest that she ever recorded a song of that title is an entry in The Soul Club Jukebox, which isn't always 100% accurate in my experience.

Have I really just imagined it? And if so, does anyone have any idea what I might have been looking at?

This has got me well confused... :boxing:

....and edit....

I just found the song listed in Dusty Groove on a 45, but not in stock. That sorts half the problem, now does anyone have any idea what CD it might have been on?

No... you're not going senile !

I can help you with half of the problem- Barbara Acklin did record "Raindrops" on

Capitol #3892.

The part I can't help you with is what CD you saw it on. Good luck, let us know

- might be interested in buying it myself.

"Raindrops" was on the first Leaning Tower Soul Club CD we did about 5 or 6 years ago...

I don't think you've heard the tune from our CD, because we did a handful of copies (around 100), but just in case the CD cover was purple with our beloved Tower of Pisa on...

Nice tune indeed...

Oops. Sorry 'bout starting this then disappearing. I've been manning the flood defenses. Haven't had much time for anything except checking my emails and eBay.

I've located it on two CDs, neither of which are the one I'm sure I saw it on originally.

Reaching for the sky: Towering soul from the 70's - Capitol/EMI

Keighley Okeh Soul Club 2nd Anniversary 1st Dec 2007 (Ebay, no other info given)

I'm guessing that 2nd one is a 'private' pressing... rolleyes.gif

Now I'm torn. The first one is over a tenner with P&P but has a Lou Rawls track I don't have and a Rance Allen track that I've never heard before, the 2nd one's about £2.50 all in unless someone else bids for it, but then there's the option of getting it on real vinyl from Steve.

Must go and think about it while I dry my feet.

Usually with a genuine cd you get some sort of booklet with it, sometimes a very good read. With knocked up cds you usually get sod all and quality often suffers. If you spent an hour or so you could gather all the tracks yourself and make your own cd  I'd buy the real one or the 45!!!

Yes, I kinda object to paying for private pressings unless someone can assure me that the artists are getting their kickback. Where this falls apart is that if you buy 2nd hand on eBay the artist still doesn't get anything back... So I guess it's got to be the real CD. New Rance Allen track here I come!!
