Craig W Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 As a hint if you can't find it you may 'Need a Helping Hand' You're obviouslly on about the Sevicemen 45 but is this The same group who did all the northern stuff?
Dave Rimmer Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 You're obviouslly on about the Sevicemen 45 but is this The same group who did all the northern stuff? Yes, because 'My Turn' is the flip to 'I Need A Helping Hand'
Craig W Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Yes, because 'My Turn' is the flip to 'I Need A Helping Hand' Now I've read the sellers description properly as it is a bit jumbled up I can see it now. How much is this worth then BTW
Ged Parker Posted January 13, 2008 Author Posted January 13, 2008 Now I've read the sellers description properly as it is a bit jumbled up I can see it now. How much is this worth then BTW I guess a minter would be £100 ish so a VG one half that. Anyway I'll know better when it arrives I have "Need a Helping Hand" already but on two different labels and can't resist a bargain and I've never heard this flip side.
Mace Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Nice one Ged. I bought a 'lot' off ebay a few years ago that was mainly 70s, 80s & 90s pop stuff except it had a copy of Herb Ward 'Strange Change' amongst them Cost me about $60 total with shipping (I had to take all 50 or so 45s cus seller told me he had already packaged them up prior to listing them....) Couldn't see the records properly in auction photo, so half expected the white promo boot copy when they arrived......was a proper one though Like you say, still bargains to be found on ebay if you dig deep
Craig W Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I love lots like these on Ebay and have had some real surprises and let downs when they arrive but overall have done well. Waiting for these to come shortly and have spotted a couple of decent things in putting the artists to the labels and never know there may be one or 2 other things I'n not expecting when they arrive https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...N:IT&ih=012
Winsford Soul Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...N:IT&ih=002 Nice record in here if you can spot it Not bad for a tenner including shipping In the last week i,ve bought of evil bay, Carolines. Cant help loving that boy demo and a Micheal & Raymond Man without a woman demo for 80 odd quid incl p&p. Bargins are still there. Steve
Modernsoulsucks Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) I hate to rain on Ged's parade but £10 for a VG Servicemen is maybe not such a good deal if VG is the usual rubbish 45 you get off most Ebay dealers, other than guys like Moerer who appear to know what they're doing. I NEVER buy VG and anything I consider VG that turns up goes back straight or ends up in the bin. Im also surprised that someone considers VG condition to be worth half the value of Mint condition. In my book more like 20% if you're lucky especially on something like Servicemen which is reasonably common. There are exceptions obviously but they would be confined to those 45s of which there are only a handful. As for "bargains" on Ebay this thread gives no indication why they're considered such but I have the sinking feeling that the price guides will come into it somewhere. So my "bargains" this month were Gerri Granger "Breakdown" Big Top DJ £11 inc P&P, Ethics Wale £24 inc P&P, Ethics Vent DJ £17 inc P&P and Don Varner South Camp DJ £15 inc P&P. Respectively £75,£100,£40[for regular issue] and £75 in guide. All 45s were Mintish by the way. I make that £67 for a supposed value of £290 which is less than 25% I actually shelled out. I got myself a fantastic bargain there!! Er.... but then I saw Ethics on Wale sell last night for less than I paid albeit in VG+ condition and I saw Don Varner in a sales box at £50 but still there so no takers at that price. Not quite as good as I first thought. Bearing in mind the current thread on prices I gotta say that anyone who takes the guides seriously, and I know there are people on here who refer to them all the time when valuations are requested, is living in cloud cuckoo land. Im really happy with my "bargains" but not because I paid under the odds. I like the records and buying off Ebay Im sure I paid the going rate. ROD Edited January 16, 2008 by modernsoulsucks

Prophonics 2029 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) well, that's a piece of soul history! More of a freckin miracle if you ask me. When there are so many people after this record and 3 copies $9.9 slip by in 1 night. I never count my chickens till there are in the roost. Edited January 18, 2008 by Prophonics 2029
