Iancsloft
Major also played the VA VA in Bolton around 73 he spent several hours with me and Joan after his performance ,he had a row with the backin band about their input in his show he did,nt think they where up to it, later durin the nite he gave me his silk scarf that he had been wearing during his show i gave it to Dave Skeen a big fan of Major couple years ago.. I also won Majors leather jacket in a comp on Dave Evisons Signal radio,s soul show guess the lyric comp i auctioned the jacket off at Leigh Miners Soul Nite in aid of the Hillsbourgh Disaster and Mick Davey won it lucky sod, all proceeds went to the fund i think we raised around £200 in the auction His shows at the Torch where something else i remember him telling me later that they where very emotional for him who can forget him bringing his family on stage at the Torch wow what memories.... Another artist who found the Torch amazing was Jnr Walker after his show he was dancin with myself and Fred Morton he said to us the folks back in Detroit will never believe this ! spot
Hey he even came to the sleepy hollow of Goole & played the Vikings, which for those who don't know was a medium size function room (200) of a pub, it was a hot bed of Soul with, Doris troy, Roy C, The Real Thing, Mac & Katie Kassoon, Limmie & Family Cooking & more all playing there & Top Northern Dj's like; Rick Todd. Dick Jervis, Frank Dewhirst etc spinning top tunes. Anyway Major tore the roof off the place & is our claim to fame in our sleepy little Yorkshire back water town.
