Of course it depends on what the criteria is for a top DJ. Chris L

HE SET THE STANDARD THE OTHERS FOLLOW Whilst I would agree Dickie was 'The' Jock from the Casino, to make such a sweeping statement as "COS HE STOPPED THE CASINO GOING UNDER BY HIMSELF A LONG TIME B4 IT SHOULD/WOULD HAVE DONE" is a little unfair...... to say the least. Many of the DJ's that have been listed on this thread have played fantastic spots at Wigan including some of your nominees, and I'm sure THEY would beg to differ..
Colsoul Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 in the last 35 years it would be searling, rushbrooke, rob marriot, and currently butch, and kitch ,colin

Guest hudsoul Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 for me it has to be the following- BUTCH,,,,,,,ROB MARRIOT,,,,,,,,GUY HENNIGAN ,,,,,KEB,,,,,,,KITCH,,,,,,,,,GARY RUSHBROOK,,,,,,,,,,PAT BRADY,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, mainly because i never went to the casino or anywhere from that era ,butch is the top man today and has been for a long time now ,,,rob marriot discovered some great sounds many still played today ,,the same for guy and keb whos big sounds are still going strong today ,,,,rushbrook and brady the quality of their big sounds speaks for itself ,,theres others as well soul sam,,adey croasdel,,dave withers etc all brought us some fantastic tunes
Russ Vickers Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I forgot to add David Flynn, Val Palmer, Tony Smith & loads more too !!!!. Also, lets not forget the journeymen DJ's who keep local nights alive & who do also get spots at the more well known venues occasionally too, i appreciate this thread is about the top jocks, but worth mentioning all these guys n gals, who in a lot of cases have collections as good as, if not better collections sometimes than the top guy's. They also probably have a harder time breaking new tunes & occasionally dont get the kudos for breaking em, as after they do the hard work, it'll go 'big' for a name at a top venue. A few guys in this category, altho' some hate to be referred to as DJ's are: Dave Moore Dave Abbott Steve C Molly Gary Todd Fergie DJ & literally hundreds of others, so hats off to you lot too & keep at it. Russ

Neil Jones as he introduced me to so many great tunes Sean Livesey (impresses for one so young, hence him becoming a Bury resident - He showed so much passion for soul music at such a young age, playing and loving soul from 6T's through to nu release and never scared to play something different.) Bob Hinsley, Barry Maleady, Neil Rushton and Pete Haigh are up there - but gosh I've got loads!.. I particularly love DJ's who play ACB.. Jayne.x.

Don't like the loud mouthed, "come on lets feckin have you" brigade or those who loose themselves in the , "I paid this much for this tune" Just play the records have the decency to turn up well in advance of your spot and stay a while after other than that if i was pushed i would say, John Poole Torchboy Mr Nige Brown Glynn Sissons.
