Dave Pinch Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 heyup malc it made no 65 on the us pop charts and is pretty common in the states. I bought a half decent issue for 99cents although i would like to add that a white demo would be nifty and the uk copy is probably one of the harder red atlantics though not mega money the flip side ` if this is love ' is actually good underated northern dave
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 There have been several excellent Jamaican versions of it, too, most notably the 1967 Studio 1 cut by the late Slim Smith, which has the Wailers on backing vocals and which is retitled "Lonely Lover". Gregory Isaacs also did a really good cut of it on Impact in 1973. The Mike Williams record was recorded in Chicago. It's always sounded to me like it should be on Chess, really. It's also now collected by 'Island Soul' fans, which means it's not quite as cheap as it used to be!!!

Gene Barge produced it (hence the Chess sound), he told me he did it because he owed a favor to someone at atlantic.
