Does anyone know why the tru-glo-town 45 by the royal robins is so rare? Wasn't at least one of the group's abc 45s a national hit? And wasn't tru-glo-town a pretty major / well distributed label (with a few hits -- for example, my baby likes to boogaloo was a big hit in chicago at least) by record industry insider ed townsend? I know Townsend did some other very rare 45s as demo type things, but this was on his 'real' label. I've only ever seen this as a demo, did it come as an issue also? Does anyone know anything about the group? Were they from Jersey? I know just being on his label doesn't mean they were from that area (for example, the sandpipers were from florida).

Don't know why this particular single is rare, everything else on the label seems to be around in quantity. But I do know it got rarer after John Weston bought a copy !!!!!!

I sold Kev Spittles cracked copy for £500 this year - played mint though

Pete

Did it have a 1.5cm edge crack, held together by a bit of sellotape? If so, that was the original 'Imaginary Visions' from Dave Withers & Rod Shard @ £25, I seem to remember. Sold to NIge Parker who then........

(Off to start a thread - 'If I ever sell, you'll get first refusal as my best mate ........ I'm not bitter)

i used to hear this at the 100 club in the early 90s.

I honestly thought Ady and Mick were playing the guitar from behind the decks!

with greg on vocal ? I didnt realise it was a rare one?

I saw that post in another thread... but it's not clear whether it was sitting there on a buy it now or whether he convinced the seller to end it early with a 'buy it now'...
