Those lovely little niche moments that endear your addled mind.

I've recounted it before but I remember heading out for a Wigan Oldies on a Friday - Wigan baths following etc etc - then following through for the Saturday night do - having an envelope full of certain oblong shaped chalk like vessels, of which disappeared rather quickly - last memory was it being announced that 'M's' was openbing in five minutes.

The next memory I have is of being on a train to Colwyn Bay, snapshot:

Next thing I remember is....

I woke up on a couch, covered in a damp shall, trying to extricate something that was on my face...which turned out to be a cat - obviously seeking out the only warm vent in the room - my mouth.

I got rid of the cat and sat up.

I was in a 6am darkened, curtains drawn front room.

I was aware of conversation going on - my mind honed it to the left of where I was esconsced.

I looked left and there were six people in the bay window of the terraced house I happened to be in....playing 'The Game Of Life' (?).

I knew none of them.

As I awoke, they heard me rise....looked at me....uninterested...and carried on shaking the dice and moving their game pieces.

It was Tuesday and I was in Lincoln.

(As a footnote I still have no idea how I got there and honestly cannot recollect how I got home....which was a bit of a b*stard as I was due at work on the Monday)

Anymore?

[Loved the Sidras Theme/M's moment someone posted elswhere earlier btw)

I had the habit in 74 o going to the Mecca, coach to Wigan, as did many others.

Had all the usual crap, coach getting stopped and searched, odd occasion all down to the nick for questioning, bloody ridiculous really.

Anyway, been out all day in Blackpool one of the lads 21st, into the Mecca, out of it drinkwise by 1am, onto the Casino coach absolutely p.....d.

Mr Ms opened and I was in between Ms and the main room, with both doors being held open, talking to Judd from Leigh, who was lying on the floor on a baaad acid trip, listening to him, hearing different records from 2 sources, with a real wobble on. For the only time in my life I was about to faint.

Drew from Bury and Jimmy Belcher sort of carried to Drews Bondmobile (!!) and put me in it where I slept til around 5. Had to then convince Hilda I'd already paid, as I'd been carried out, and hit the floor. Went to the baths after, played footy in the afternoon, and out in Burnley at 7pm.

Did it really all happen like that, every weekend, from 74 to 77?

Morecambe, early 80s. I was looking through the records for sale and lifted one up to get a better look at the label, can't remember what it was now but the second I lifted it the DJ started playing it.. Wierd.

Five minutes later I'm still looking and just as I found a copy of Moody & The Deltas (huge track back then) THAT started...... About £40 lighter and I'm on the dance floor with it clutched tightly in my hand... it were a sign I tell thee, a sign!

I think it was about then that the paranoia kicked in :sleep3::hypo:biggrin.gif

The very same. Knocked about with him for about 6 months off and on.

We used to go to Wigan and Samanthas with a guy called Andrew (Drew) from just outside Bury, but most of the time I was with the Burnley crew.

Drew had this Bondmobile that only fit 2 in, so we used to go around with Jill from Edenfield, who would fit us all in her mini.

Jill was great. She'd take us to Burnley away games and then to the Mecca or Wigan.

Haven't seen Jimmy since those days, nor Drew.

the late mac from belper used to tell a story about when he was coming home from somewhere a bit worse for wear, he looked out of the car window and saw a bloke walking a llama, he never said anything until they they were went around a corner and saw a sign for gerry cottles circus, all at once all in the car turned to each other and said "thank F**k for that" all thought either hallucinating or losing the plot,

secondly me and a couple of mates dancing to phylis hymen "you know how to love me", unknown to us the dj was playing the long version, after about 3 and a half minutes we all left the floor at the same time and sat down, the record carried on in background for another minute and a half, when it had nearly ended we all looked at each other said nothing then looked at the dj as if he was the strange one, got a cd in the car with the long version of ykhtlm on it still makes me smile

Me, Denise, Ken and Garv coming back from Wilton after a heavy nite, we'd got to the bit in the car where we were all sat quietly monging out of the window.

Drove past this car on the hard shoulder, with two people getting a rolled up carpet out of the boot!!!

We all looked at each other wondering if we had all seen the same thing.

It got us all sat up and chatting again.

I still wonder to this day if there was a body inside... :D

Surreal moments .......

A party of us had gone down to Torquay ( this was in the summer of 1977 ) for the week , and I had to return back " oop north " , on the Saturday as I had to be back in Yorkshire to run the all - nighter that evening at Wakefield Unity ........

As stated , that was in 1977 , when the journey to said English Riviera , was a long one - let us put it this way , it was a b*****d , as opposed to that of today .....

Three of us left early morning , the journey was the said illegitimate child , and we finally got back to Yorkshire early evening ....

The all - nighter went well , and after finishing at 8 AM on the Sunday morning , we headed to the services on the M1 near Barnsley for a brew , and for those of us who could partake , a bit of breakfast ....

We sat there , looking at each other , when we made the decision to go for a drive ..... back to Torquay .

Upon arrival back in Torquay , we were greeted by those in our party who had stayed down there , with disbelief at our return , and the statement of " you're f*****g mental " .....

Surreal - but doing things like that , was part and parcel of those heady days .......
