Guest Hunnymon Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Had the new Boys 2 Men album recomended to me by Amazon. Plenty of Motown covers albums out there but I must say I'm tempted to put this one on my Christmas list. Anybody heard it? And is it any good?

45cellar Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 (edited) I've seen the ad on TV & everytime I just find myself asking why ? go buy the cds of the original artists Motown finally waking up to what they let go? Why don't they record new stuff in the 60's/70's Style. There must be Artists and producers capable of creating such a thing. Instead they appear to have adopted a different formula where each track becomes incredibly similar & boring. Go to almost any wedding reception and it's the Motown Classics that Kick Start the Dance floor. The DJ then turns to the Charts of the day and people of all ages sit down. I do like some rap music etc, but surely someone talking and wagging their finger to the camera has had it's day, Or the smooth sound-alike cute well shot video, that attempts to call itself R&B Let's have something that we can dance to and enjoy. Guest Hunnymon Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I've seen the ad on TV & everytime I just find myself asking why ? go buy the cds of the original artists I've got the originals many times and they are truly great recordings with fantastic productions (for the time they were made). It's the sheer sound quality of these new versions when played on a modern hi fi system that I'm interested in hearing. The originals will always be my favourites though.
Guest Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Funny that cos "The Originals" are my favourite(motown) group too
Guest JJMMWGDuPree Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 It seems pointless to me. If you're gonna cover a song do something a little different with it. This Boyz2Men thing is just an admission that music was better back then...

If the album sells , will some of the royalties go to the original artists or their dependants ? I very much doubt it ..... Malc Burton Edited December 21, 2007 by Malc Burton

Boys 2 Men are the most succesful group to have ever signed to Motown? I am under the impression that they have sold more recordings than Marvin, Stevie, Dianna , 4 Tops. put together? So they can do what the feck they like ! Because if you dont like them ...who cares......Millions of random CD buying people do! Does that make them good?
