I've just found a few 70s quadraphonic LPs (looks like they are from Japan) in my local record store all on a red Tamla Motown label...very heavy vinyl. I have a vague recollection that they can't be played on an ordinary stereo set-up without distortsion. Is that correct...they are only a few quid each so I might buy them anyway.

they can be played ok but i have a couple (both marvin - whats going on and let's get it on) and they are quiter pressings but if they are clean copies they sound better... AND they are different mixes to the regular releases - from the original tapes, there are parts of WGO that fade out instead of just cutting into the next track. I'd buy them straight away if they are good titles.
