Used to be a great place for record hunting in 70's/80's, but been told it's hard work now days. But Dave Moore on here is your man to ask wink.gif

I was out in Orlando last year and went to Bananas over in St.Petes and not much there. He's also got all the guides so not cheap if you find owt as nothing priced until you get to counter.

Rock'n'Roll Heaven has been cleaned out as well.

Used to be a place on West Church Street but he's sold up.

Sorry not much help but as Dave T says its hard work now.

Dave.

First went to Bananas in 86. Fantastic then - came out of there with armfulls of 50c 45s. Not only that but the two fit tanned girlies in hot pants behind the counter  ordered me a cab back to my hotel as well - never sure whether they just really friendly or were trying to get rid of me whistling.gif

Dave,

I spoke when I was there with my best Derbyshire accent and nobody understood me

Some English folk thought I was from Yorkshire

Happy Christmas,Dave.

If your in Florida on vacation & just wanted to have a dig, i'd recommend heading north to Georgia, takes about 4-5 hours depending on where you go & even then its hard work, but you'll have more luck there than Florida IMO.

Good luck matey.

Not me Russ - I've done my stints in the US, including Florida, Georgia / Talahassee / West Palm Beach etc. Hard work as you say and in dusty old record boxes...poisonous SPIDERS ohmy.gif

The very last outpost for vinyl junkies that has yeilded any decent Northern 45s over the past decade on a reasonably regular basis closed it's doors in October. Central Florida is now so bad for soul 45s that I even stopped going to the Record Shows a couple of years ago. With the constant flow of tourists through the area what does show is snapped up the same day.

Recent visits to Bananas and Rock N Roll Heaven were met with the following statement from Dave F and I:

"My crappy sales box is better than their 'rare' and collectable' sales boxes".

My advice to any vinyl hunter is to 'Head North .....and quickly!'

Of course everyone thinks that i don't let on where the real stashes are! biggrin.gif We had 'em away, years ago.

Good few years ago I picked up some 45`s in a store in Kissimmee. It was next to a bar called Woolfman Jacks with the Bar Kay's playing. There are some places in Miami that have a few odds and sods but the ones I was in recently I would advise against wondering around the area alone. I was with a friend from there who new the neighbour hood.

Just be warned that if you start buying obscure labels (labels you don't know) that sound like they could be soul, or artists with names that sound like soul singers you'll likely end up with a bunch of country - especially true here in Georgia.
