Hi am enthusiastic but not very knowledgeable about Northern Soul or whatever you like to call it. Listening to various radio shows I come across records I seem to recognise but don't know the name of or have any details about.

Can anyone identify this song, these words are in the chorus:

"I hunger for your love I need your love to survive You are my only desire..."

The thing about this record is that it is conceived on an epic, filmic scale - like 'Papa was a rolling stone' but it sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom, like they didn't have enough money to do it justice. It has complex chords and melodies, wonderful harmony vocals, that 'Shaft'-like wah wah guitar and an amazing bass line that sweeps up and down like a roller coaster!

Can anyone idenfity this amazing record and provide other details - year of issue?

It's by the Montclairs "Hung Up On Your Love" Paula US / Contempo Uk (mid 70's)

Phil.

It's The Montaclairs "Hung Up On Your Love" on Paula in the US and Contempo in the UK. It's been put on a few CD compilations over the years, some of which might still be available. A really wonderful record by a great group. Their main man, Phil Perry, has performed with great distinction in the UK a number of times.
