paultp
Me neither! Used to be a £2 cheapie which was in everyone's box! Ian D I hate it when people say that Still, 1200+ does seem a lot. Out of interest, what was an expensive record when Martha Starr was 2 quid and what was the price? (Maybe a new thread?) Link to comment Social source share

Out of interest, what was an expensive record when Martha Starr was 2 quid and what was the price? (Maybe a new thread?) Paul, You shouldn't hate it, because he's talking total Bollox. "Love is the only solution" has never been a £2.00 45 or around in everybody box. I consider it easily the rarest Thelma 45. Maybe Ian was thinking of "No Part Time Love" which was a cheapie and in everyone's sales box and lists for many years, now disapperaring. But to say that about "Love is the only solution" is quite frankly so very wrong. Link to comment Social source share
Guest
Its what people are prepared to pay!..............for something that just does not come up for sale unless theres a Z in the month... if you really want it and can afford to pay more than its worth then go for it! And they do......every day!....thats part of what makes the scene unique. Link to comment Social source share

John When Keith Rylatt sold his collection in the mid 80's he had all the Thelmas, Love was the most expensive at £7 all the rest were 2-5 me and andy Spencer didnt half have an argumnet over it but i got in first Link to comment Social source share
Steve Plumb
I do like to balance out the 'JM auction' threads with what i consider to be a bargain and this one's no different! Wendell Watts at £186 is much lower than most dealers will have it for set sale and in my opinion is a bit of a bargain Cheers Steve Link to comment Social source share

Guest
Me neither! Used to be a £2 cheapie which was in everyone's box! Ian D The Martha Star on Thelma that was cheap, was "No Part Time Love For Me". It is a great record and Soul Bowl had them for a while on the weekly list. "Love is the Only Solution" was hardly ever available, unless you where very lucky! "I'm Lonely"on the flip is so good, that you get two for the price of one! Very similar to "Sweet Lies"- Emanuel Laskey - Thelma. Link to comment Social source share

Pete S
I did very well then! I think you did! It's crazy to think a Stax record sells for more than £30 to be honest. Is the Darrell Banks record rarer than Sly Girl on the blue Stax? I don't think it is, yet that goes for £25 tops. Link to comment Social source share
Paul McKay
Actually I think it may well be. There were always a lot of copies of the Stax sky blues in and around London markets up to the 80s and all new unplayed. Never saw the same kind of thing with EMI Stax though.
