What about that DYNATONES c/u. Was it from a HERBIE MANN LP
Guest nusha Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi Ken ,We didn.t know Taj Mahal was on a single in 1969 but it was the inside track on a CBS rock sampler album and was cut down to single size, best we could do. cheers Brian Would have sounded intersting but surely nowhere near as popular as the original by Homer Banks. He was god like at that time with 60 minutes/Hooked etc
bri phill Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Would have sounded intersting but surely nowhere near as popular as the original by Homer Banks. He was god like at that time with 60 minutes/Hooked etc Homer Banks version had been re-released by then and wasn't played at the Wheel after 1968, Taj Mahal was just a change that's all,Hooked by love was still getting played by the great Homer Banks.Hole in the wall was played by the Dynatones again a change from The Packers and the best version by far George Stone. The Herbie Mann records escapes me at the moment apart from Philly Dog wichh got a few plays.

I would not dare touch a choon like this but is was well done. there must be a thread about it on soul source I am sure... kind regards, M This was definitely on a 45 - lovely stuff
Guest MOLLY Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 For me it has to be the Supremes and The Four Tops LP Dynamite. The track is called "Do you love me just a little, honey". The way Levi Stubbs and Jean Terrell compliment each other is just awesome. A very unlikely pairing but it works so so well. Levi is absolutely outstanding. You can get a copy for about £20 and its on American Motown and British Tamla Motown. I guarantee you wont be disappointed, I'd even recommend buying it blind its that good I got my copy off Chris Anderton, he normally has a few copies.
bri pinch Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 SPANKY WILSON - EASY LOVER. LORI BURTON - LET NO ONE COME ETWEEN US. WILLIE TEE - TAKE YOUR TIME. THREE PIECES - IF I COULD PROVE MY LOVE TO YOU. JACKIE WILSON - JUST CALL MY NAME. SPELLBINDERS - BABY I MISS YOU. CHUCK JACKSON - HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE FOOL. DANA VALLERY - THIS LOVE IS REAL (I CAN FEEL THOSE VIBRATIONS) BRI PINCH.

Guest posstot Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 hello all...nice list of album tracks, a lot i'll have to try and here for the first time by the looks of it...thought i'd put my pennies worth in, so here goes; LLOYD PRICE sings the million sellers.LP SHOP AROUND. GOT LLOYDS INSTANTLY REGOCNISEABLE VOICE..WITH A MORE UPBEAT SOLID BACKING..A CRACKER. FREDDY BUTLER a dab of soul.LP YOU'D BETTER GET HIP GIRL. FOR ME THE BEST TRACK ON THE ALBUM..BUT THERE ALL GOOD LETS FACE IT...DESERTED!!! A CLOSE SECOND. FREDDY SCOTT sings and sings and sings WHERE IS THE GIRL. SAME AS BEN.E KING ON ATCO..YET FREDDY STEALS THE SHOW ON THIS BIG CITY PRODUCTION..WHAT A VOCAL. VI VELASCO the album. THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. THIS IS A 45 RELEASE..AT LEAST I THUNK IT IS...AS I THOUGHT, WHEN I BOUGHT THE ALBUM, I'D SAVED A FEW SQUID. SO SORRY IF THIS DISNEE QUAAAALIFFYYYYEE. BABY WASHINGTON with you in mind I GOT IT BAD AND THAT AINT GOOD...ALL AROUND THE WORLD..ITS ALL OVER BUT THE CRYING..GET A HOLD ON YOURSELF..THIS OLD WORLD. I LOVE BABY WASHINGTON..OFFICIAL. FROM HER EARLY NEPTUNE RELEASES TO THIS VEEP ALBUM..IN PARTICULAR........WHICH IS ARRANGED AND PRODUCED BY HENRY GLOVER...WHAT A MATCH UP...I GOT IT BAD WAS RELEASED IN THE U.K ON UNITED ARTISTS, NOT ON A SINGLE IN THE U.S...SO A LOT OF THE ABOVE ARE ONLY ALBUM RELEASED..HERE ON THIS ALBUM...PLEASE TRY AND FIND ONE.YOU WONT REGRET IT. GARNET MIMMS..as long as i have you(us) warm and soulful(uk) AS LONG AS I HAVE YOU..THERE GOES MY BABY. AS LONG, I THINK IS ONE YOUVE ALL MISSED HERE..A BELTER..AN IMPOSSIBLE DANCER..BUT MANIC PACE PRODUCTION AND A SCREAMER OF A VOCAL..L.P ONLY!! ON THE OTHER HAND, THERE GOES MY BABY, IS A REALLY GOOD VERSION OF A MELLOWER SOUL STANDARD. DONE IN A BERT KEYES STYLEE. BARBARA ACKLIN love makes a woman IVE GOT YOU BABY A LATER SIXTIES OUTING, AND I THINK THE ONLY TRACK ON THE ALBUM WITHOUT CARL DAVIS OR EUGENE RECORDS' INVOLVEMENT ON IT..A REAL PLEASING EAR OPENER. RIGHT THATS ME DONE WAFFLIN ON...I HOPE SOME OF YOU AGREE, AND I HOPE SOME OF YOU FIND A NEW FAVOURITE WITHIN THAT LOT.... NICE TOPIC BY THE WAY...ALL YHE VERY BEST MIKE. BY THE WAY..DID I MENTION THE** SOULFUL SHACK ** STARTING IN 08. FRI FEB 1ST. THE PHOENIX BAR ROYAL BRITISH LEGION CULCHETH WARRINGTON .SERVING PLATTERS OF 60'S RARE SOUL, RnB AND POPCORN....(TOP 500 IS OFF THE MENU....at least the VAST majority of it..) we find the suppliers of this are charging way too much on delivery..in fact over the odds. We are currently sourcing smaller, greener suppliers which give much more flavour and diversity. HOUSE CHEFS; MIKE AND STE. AND OUR CELEBRITY CHEF;MIKE WARBURTON. inc guests mally(from morcambe)and dean mitchell(golborne catholic club nighters)(possible). i think its fair to say if you flit between the main room and the rnb room..we're the place for you...come and enjoy yourself. 8 til 1. sorry about the shameful plug on this l.p topic...just cheeky. p.s chuck jackson king of the mountain encore l.p absolutely awesome(and i hate that word) same backing as hal miller an angel cried.
