Guest posstot Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I've always considered beat ballads to be tracks like; freddy cole id have it made tru glo town george smith i've had it turntable george freeman down and out valiant lovelace watkins dreams sue or perhaps ernestine anderson you're not the guy for me sue. that sort of tempo, yet have seen tracks like; chuck jackson if i ever get to love you big top sylvia shemwell he'll come back philips harry starr another time another place end and point in fact the beat ballad madness c.d being full of what i considered to be mid tempo cuts...am i missing something or is it down to personal consideration. And whilst we're on the subject....similarly to the " favourite enders " question, what is your favourite beat ballad. NOW IF WE'RE GOING OVER OLD GROUND HERE FOR SOME OF YOU, MY APOLOGIES,I'M NEW TO ALL THIS... MIKE
Dave Moore Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I suppose it's a question of interpretation Mike but either way here's a few BB's I like: UpTights - Look A Little Higher - Alley Jimmy Beaumont - I Never really Loved You - Bang Little Anthony - It'll Never be The Same - Veep Ray Paige - Don't Stop - RCA Roy Hamilton - Reach Out for Me - RCA
Guest Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Good eveing Mike How are we after Barnsley? Great night though eh mate? Is Cath after my blood for keeping you out? Re this subject I dont think it's worth getting caught up in terminology, who cares if you call it a beat ballad and I call it mid tempo , its the sound that matters By the way Lowton is on the 14th so I wont see you this Friday Let me know when you have read the emails I sent you earlier Steve

Re this subject I dont think it's worth getting caught up in terminology, who cares if you call it a beat ballad and I call it mid tempo , its the sound that matters True enough, unless you're planning on buying a record on the strength of it's genre (Bad idea all 'round...). I've noticed that there are references to 'soul' on here that I never really perceived as such but what's it matter? As long as we're liking roughly the same stuff that's good enough for me, I don't expect to like everything I hear even if I should. And having said that... Verdict required. Night Owl - Tony Allen, Dearest - Mickey & Sylvia, It's spring again - The Pyramids. Northern soul or not? I've even got a sort of reason for asking this...

I've even got a sort of reason for asking this... oops hello there, like you said in your first line it only matters if you are buying (on the strength of a referal perhaps),otherwise like you (?) and ste have said it dont exactly matter.....i think i was born a worrier !!! its because there are that many sub-genres and terminolagies out there i get confused listening to it all and then someone calls something one thing when its another....ive always liked to call the music we all love rnb/soul and let everyone else get caught up in the rest of it....and here's me swimming upstream!!!! as for your verdict required titles...do you know i dont know them there titles, maybe if i were to here them i'd recognise them, but you got me on them!!
