Guest the dukester Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Marvin Gaye 12" Previously unreleased? Any info on price availability
Daved Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 It's a boot, I think. The only official release is on CD and can be found in such specialist stores as Tesco, Asda, etc. Wonderful song.
Sutty Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 definitely a boot 12", there's a whole series of them. There are 2 versions, one was released on a greatest hits collection as an extra track. the next version had whistling on it and was released on the let's get it on extended double cd and is called the alternative version. this alternative version is the one on the bootleg 12" along with other tracks from the lgio cd set. All the 12" versions are unreleased versions/tracks. Funk Inc do a fine version too, the Donald Byrd original is not saying much though. cheers Sutty

Just been told, few copies were sold out of Fat City Records in Manchester, as you say great, great tune, along with 3 others that are on it.......your'e the man/cakes/the world is rated x........... It was the cover sleeve which made me pick it out at Sue Ryder Shop

It was the cover sleeve which made me pick it out at Sue Ryder Shop it was easily available at the time everywhere but as with most boots there was just one press so it's just waiting for one to turn up for a fiver or so i guess. the version on the greatest hits cd is better than the alternate version and is the one that got played at the time, the song had been totally hammered by the time the boot came out. Fiver eh........ MMMMM bit of profit then the version on the greatest hits cd is better than the alternate version and is the one that got played at the time, the song had been totally hammered by the time the boot came out.

Quite right. A bit ironic really - the fact that such a wonderful unissued song is only legitimately available on a greatest hits CD sold in supermarkets. Yet some people prefer an inferior bootleg because it's on vinyl and it's harder to find.

It's the original mix without the whistle on the intro, same as the greatest hits release. Tomo
