Saxafone Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 (edited) Has anyone seen the new film "All Together" Film 4 production, supposed to be a comedy? with Danny Dyer & Martin Freeman. Total Northern soundtrack, Martin Freeman co starring running around in a Wigan All Nighter T shirt and riding a Lammy. Absolute cack film though - how did our music end up in this hell hole ? The plague and avoid like, should always be used when discussing this turkey ! Link to review and pic below. All Together Pic & Review Edited November 23, 2007 by Saxafone

Saxafone Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 (edited) It would seem I'm not alone in thinking this film stinks, despite the soundtrack, not a good association methinks. Line taken from Orange Film Review. "it is equally true that the soundtrack is packed with stone cold classic Northern Soul tunes. But on every other conceivable level, watching this film is like having to eat a cotton wool, tin foil and gravel sandwich." Hmm not good then ! Pete S Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 I've got this as well...had no idea what it was, only that it was a britcom and most of those stink, will try and watch this weekend
Saxafone Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 (edited) I've got this as well...had no idea what it was, only that it was a britcom and most of those stink, will try and watch this weekend Same here, I had no idea what it was when I got it.... amazed when the first track kicked in and thought this could be brilliant, then slowly as more and more classic northern played against a backdrop (unintentional that one) of dire acting, script, dialogue, unfunny "humour" and dire anything else that goes into making a film - just embarrassment that our music has been tacked on to such an appallingly bad movie for no apparent reason. The censor should have banned it for gratituous use of Northern or they could have used a Modern Soul and Northern Funk soundtrack which would seem appropriate ! Pete, before you watch, make absolutely sure you have nothing else remotely useful you could be doing with your life. It really is that bad. Taff Edited November 23, 2007 by Saxafone

Saxafone Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 I'll second that, it's so very, very poor Went back and watched the very end of the movie (fell into a near death, trance the first time) up come scenes of the Casino and the usual dancing and backdrop sequences. Absolutely sod all to do with the plot if ever there was one in the first place. Then as the credits roll they reach the music advisor / consultant, whatever bit..........Kev Roberts, ahh mystery solved methinks. I think this film highlights the massive potential for far better marketing and awareness of our music by association with similar products of high repute or artistic merit. The Fred West story, is another feel-good britcom / romcom film just crying out for a Northern soundtrack. I reckon Northern Haemorrhoid Cream, would be a winner as well. "When your ring is just too itchy, reach for Northern, the Cream that brings smiles to your piles" (9 out of 10 DJs recommend it? cue pictures of 9 smiling Northern jocks and one with a strange pained expression) With prime time telly adverts backed by Northern jingles, we'll have sold out signs at venues all over the country. .......I'm going back to my Mail on Sunday before this turns into a rant.
