Pete S Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 (edited) Almost every day I see a new label that was distributed in the States at some time by London/Decca. They all have the distinctive two tone orange colours. I'm thinking about labels such as Tribe and the one below which is yet another new one on me. Things like the Hot Tamales record, at one point came out on a London distributed version of the Detroit label. If anyone spots any others can they post them here please? pikeys dog Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 the M.O.C label also. Two tone Orange copies are the promos - must have saved them a fortune in printing cost to issue all demos on the same label.
Pete S Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 the M.O.C label also. Two tone Orange copies are the promos - must have saved them a fortune in printing cost to issue all demos on the same label. Don't think I've seen MOC, who's on it?
Pete S Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Obviously, London distributed the London label but just wanted to get a pic up
pikeys dog Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Don't think I've seen MOC, who's on it? A handful of R&B records and a couple of cheap Northern tracks whose titles escape me at the minute.... Also some Country and Latin Boogaloo type tunes, seem to remember someone mentioning that the M in the label name stands for Memphis? I'll get back to you when I remember.
Guest Pete Griffin Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Obviously, London distributed the London label but just wanted to get a pic up I have The British band The Attack on this design
Mace Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 (edited) I've got a Tommy Jay 45 on the M.O.C. label (bought blind and in the junk pile ) Edited November 19, 2007 by Mace
pikeys dog Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Big Lucky - Stop Arguing - M.O.C is a decent enough R&B track (not R'N'R or C&W)
Godzilla Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 A bit funky for this site going by some recent threads Check the credits though.
Pete S Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks folks, any others you find, send them in, trust me to start a topic then go totally blank and not be able to remember any of them. Presumably there is a two tone Deram label as well as the usual brown/white one.
Guest Pete Griffin Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I think i have seen a blue london one as well with the same design.
Godzilla Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I think i have seen a blue london one as well with the same design. That's right Pete. I have a discoey thing somewhere called Porcupine by Zone on the light/dark blue scheme. I also have seen 45s by Rolling Stones and (come on memory!) Larry Page Ork on a yellow and Green variation.
Djr Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Presumably there is a two tone Deram label as well as the usual brown/white one. Yes, I have a few of these. I can post up scans after my daughter goes to bed tonight. I'm pretty sure I have a US pressing of Eyes of Blue "Heart Trouble" on the orange swirl label.
Godzilla Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Just been lookin on ebay Me too I think I have something pschy by Orion on Phase 4 but I have no idea where it is so old Easy Ronnie will do. Issues are half red half white.
Godzilla Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Worked this one out for myself! I read some stuff about Gary Paxton recently and remembered his label was distributed by London
Djr Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Here's 3 out of my US pressing of UK 60s releases box:

Pete S Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 I know we already had Marlin but this is a good blue eued dancer
45cellar Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 (edited) I know we already had Marlin but this is a good blue eued dancer Hi Pete I don't know If this is of any help. Just looking through my Hi DEMO's, the Earliest I have is 2075 Which is White & Black Just a few Numbers on and the Orange Multi Shade Label Appears for the DEMO. Might Just be that my copy of "20-75" is from a different pressing plant. However, I was wondering If it was around this time that they Started the Trend of Orange DEMO's. Which looking on >>> SoulfulKindaMusic <<< was 1964 Edited November 25, 2007 by 45cellar
Codfromderby Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I know we already had Marlin but this is a good blue eued dancer great record ,love it

Mace Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Few more for ya...don't think any of these have been posted yet?
Ian Dewhirst Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Unbelievable thread! Brilliant. The level of knowledge is A.1. I worked for 'em in the 70's but it's ridiculous how many of the distributed U.S. labels got lost. I once had access to the U.S. London/Decca distributed library at Albert Embankment for about an hour. Naturally I concentrated on Northern and managed to bypass much of the above....... And now it hurts LOL......... Ian D
De-to Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Wa-hey, an addition! pete,its more like a brill addition

Bloody hell Pete, I see what you mean. I can also see what pikeys-dog meant about saving a fortune in costs. Seems like they have a base label design then just print over that for any label under their control. Nice one.
