Pomonkey Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Just bought 2 45's off this great little label, Klicky Robinson (awesome track, now have 2 copies of this so the lesser is going to a new home if anyone comes up with a nice trade or two) and the Fabuletts, have never seen this one before and it's pretty amazing - anyone know if it's Klicky singing lead on this one, sure sounds like it. Also, are there only 4 releases on the label?, know the Jades and the Barons, all belters, would be happy if there were more out there......

boba Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 2 by the Barons The barons have different label designs that the jades at least. One of the barons on mode came out on shout also. The jades on mode are the same group as the enticers on cotillion.

boba Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Cheers for info, know of 3 other copies of Klicky scattered around, only one of Fabuletts....... I don't know the fabuletts or klicky on mode. I think Etah was the same label, though, and there's a bunch of stuff on that. I definitely think there's at least one other mode thing I know I'm not thinking of, I think it was a single artist thing...

Klicky was recently valued at uk1500, I'm guessing the Fabuletts is rarer, even the label owner's copy which is the only other one I know of isn't clean, mine plays g.r.e.a.t, will be bringing it over to UK to play London on New Year's Eve so if you're around...
Hakenig Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Hey guys, for what it's worth, I had one copy the Barons' Love Is So Real / Are You Here To Stay for sale awhile back and was absolutely swamped with requests for it.......I'd imagine demand is pretty high and it seems very very hard to find as are most releases on Mode apparently, can post some sound if anyone wants to hear it.
Pomonkey Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 You'll find the Fabulettes already over here in collections, a danceable sister funk thing on green Mode, obscure, but they are about and i've seen it on more than a few occasions. value £50 to £70 but certainly no more i'm afraid. Picked up my second copy (mint) for 30 quid about 4 months, so a spare if anyone wants it. Can't comment on the Klicky disc. Thanks for the info Andy, I know the copy that was on Gemm of Klicky that a UK friend in Spain picked up was quoted as being the first one sold since the late 80's, have a feeling was Guy h's? Wow, totally stand coreccted on Fabuletts, so much for rarity, but it's a great tune, am sure someone'll find a good home for your spare!
Anoraks Corner Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Another Mode disc: Ronnie Taplet - Somebody Out There (Love me) Light blue label, Colfam Music publishing and fab Northern Soul. Rattling tambourine, tinkling piano intro and a sax suddenly waking up mid-way through for a few powerful 'Phurps'. The vocal is a touch Gwen Davis style (SS7) and overall a great sound...imo. Sold my copy to Tm Brown yonks ago and have not seen another since. (If anyone has a Jades in decent condition that they want to part with, please drop me a PM.)
Manfromsoul45s Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Had the Klicky disc about 15 years...still pretty obscure i think. Played it years ago. Funny how people take so long so "Klick" on...
