Why?

well, if there being pressed on a machine, why go to all that bother changing the type set position, unless one batch were printed at a later date.

As with many other major label 45s, the Art Freeman 45 was pressed at many different pressing plants around the US at the same time for different regional markets (instead of pressing all 45s at one plant and then shipping them out to all parts of the US). There are many variations of original Art Freeman 45s out there.

Thanks very much, was just beginning to think that.

Thanks again.

Hi

This is the DEMO

Fame_45-1008b_DJ.jpg

It looks like the Stock Copy on the left,

However Different pressing plants were used.

I'm not sure which of your copies is the rarest Label Variation.

I must admit, that I haven't compared DEMO Label Variations.

I'm just wondering if there there is, It sometimes happens.

Good point

only aware of the one demo label style

and of course its pretty rare

there is of course the red label issue to confuse you more

personally im sticking with my test pressing which is blank on the slippin side

and typed on the other

Hi Pete

A test pressing, now that is Mega Rare, nice one.

The Red Label, again Mega Rare.

When you consider the work that has gone into this release, no doubt just like any other.

Makes you wonder at just why it is so rare, even on UK Red Atlantic.

Not really a common record on any of the formats.

An unusual release in this respect. I'd like to know how many of each format were made.

A Brilliant record.

Had a few red atlantics, the sound quality is not as good and i would guess they where all sticker demos originally

Just had a look at my DEMO and its the same layout as the other stock copy, with the VOCAL on the right.

Hi Pete

I believe It has been stated that a lot of stuff on Red Atlantic was dubbed from a U.S.A. release.

Possibly why the Sound Quality is not as good.

I used to have it on Red Atlantic, a long time ago now though.

Never had a realistic chance of another copy.

I'm gonna put a small spanner in the works here as I have a red Fame copy as already been mentioned here, my wife is asleep at the moment so I can't go and dig it out to scan, but on the flip side it says 'Plug Side' so from memory mines a red USA Fame demo, showed it to Mick Smith many years ago and he said it was a tuff copy to locate, has to be the hardest format second to perhaps the test pressing?

Will scan both sides tomorrow and post so you can take a peek.

Regards - Mark Bicknell.

The test pressings turned up mid 70s there were a few around for awhile (may of been from Soul Bowl)

but now tucked away in collections gathering dust under beds & in attics.

Would of thought the rarest would be the Italian pic Sleeve 45

Hi Mark

Is the Red Fame Copy Vinyl or Styrene,

Just wondering if this is an East Coast / West Coast difference.

It has happened with some of the Other Labels where the West Coast

press opts for a Coloured DEMO rather than White.

I don't have the actual 45...but here's the Italian picture cover Doc mentioned

That's the one.

Far too cheesy a cover for such a top tune.

As promised the Red Fame scan both sides, note the 'Plug Side' ident on the flip...could this be a Red Demo???? the plot thickens.

Hi Mark

I would say that your scan is an Extremely Rare West Coast DEMO.

They did have the habit of Coloured DEMO's as opposed to White.

I have had a look at the scans, I think that I can see a Monarch Matrix Stamp to the left of "AT" on the "Slippin' Around" side.

As you know the Monarch press almost all are Styrene, However some are Vinyl with the Monarch Delta etc.

Hasn't the white demo been booted?

How can you detect if it's a genuine one?

It is Mark, I bought one of these (red Fame demo) in a collection a few years ago, yours is only the second one I've seen. Meanwhile...

I've not seen the red copies beofre. They are a handsome sight indeed.
