I have had this White Label record for years, often wondered who It Is. There is an Instrumental on the other side, It's a bit scratched, I'm sure It Isn't Rare Just Wondered. The DS 5100 A 1H is stamped in the Deadwax. The Instumental side has "Long Hot Johns Reggae Band", "DA DOO RON RON" written in Pencil.

45cellar Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 (edited) i carnt find this in a book i have mind you its not got every thing loks like a uk release with the centre pushed out The Matrix has a chisled in type stamp, you can probably make it out from the scan. Thanks for having a look. I bought it from a second hand shop in Doncaster in the 70's. I know what you mean about the centre, It was missing when I bought it, but it looks like it had one. Just like a UK press. Edited November 14, 2007 by 45cellar
Pete S Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 OK well I can tell you that DS 5002 is The Hoop by Erroll Dixon on Direct.
Pete S Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 This is actually called Mr Lee and Laurel Aitken did a version of it but that was probably a year later than this release, came out on Doctor Bird. It sounds a bit like Laurel but maybe too laid back for him

Does it follow that it was Intended for the Direct Label or doesnt It happen that way, I'm not that clued up on Reggae Tunes/Labels I just bought a few along the way. I was tempted to call It Mr Lee as it is within the Lyrics, Thought it better not to. It would be nice to hear the Laurel Aitken version.

It was by The Bobbettes originally I think...on Atlantic, late 50's
