Chalky Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 (edited) Hi - an anyone tell me the difference between the original on Strata east and the boot please- I always thought that the originals had a cerated edge but I saw a mates one a couple of nights ago that wasnt and was different to the boot i saw afew years ago as described by JM....the original has the uk style anti slip grips round the edge, the counterfiet is an exact copy without the anti slip grips. Richard Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I dared, part of me was glad I did and the other part wasn't
Val (Chunky) Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 There are also two different intro's on Strata East.....one has a 'drunken' intro
Jerry Hipkiss Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 There are also two different intro's on Strata East.....one has a 'drunken' intro ...and don't forget the live version on a UK Arista 7"!
Sebastian Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 ...and don't forget the live version on a UK Arista 7"! ...and also available on US Arista 7" and 12".
Sunnysoul Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 And Belgium pic sleeve similar to the French ...
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 (edited) And 'Champagne' records 12" single. worth about £30, and this must be the most expensive copy I've ever seen of this record, check this out. https://www1.gemm.com/item/GIL--SCOTT--HERO...E/GML760481718/ Either a mistake or a p**s take Edited November 13, 2007 by steveluigi
Guest noss Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 There are also two different intro's on Strata East.....one has a 'drunken' intro the drunken intro is on the LP version.
Val (Chunky) Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 the drunken intro is on the LP version. I have it on the 7" ......I must admit I was quite surprised when I played it. I've had a few Strata East copies but none with the drunken intro' before. The best version for me is 'The Bottle' part 2 on the Arista 7"
Guest Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I need to update the info on the 45 as it was documented 10 years ago or more. and will be in the next guide out in the spring. Anti-slip UK style grips around the label is the FRENCH press. The USA original the matrix reads: matrix reads: small # 75 hold this @ 12 o'clock position, @ the opposite 6 o'cklock position the longer matrix reads SES 19742-45 A
Soul Shrews Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 And Belgium pic sleeve similar to the French ... In so much as its just as silly. A different design to the French one tho. Posted a picture of it in the 1st picture sleeves thread a while ago. On holiday right now but I'll post it up again when I get home (unless someone beats me to it). Doesn't feature the "drunken" intro like the LP version but it doesn't fade out like the US 45 so I guess is a more "full" version Cheers Paul
Barry Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 There is an original US Arista 12" promo with two other artists on the flip - goes for around £30/40 - the one to have in my book - it has been booted too.
Barry Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 The 'Drunken' edit that appears on the Champagne release has been edited awfully.
Barry Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) Last one - also beware the Arista 12" with The Bottle on the B side, the 'Live version', that I see on Ebay a lot, the sellers always shy away from stating that their 12" is just that, a 'Live version'. Someone always falls for paying through the nose for it. Edited November 15, 2007 by Barry

But Barry the original is on Strata East label not Arista and it came out a couple of years before the 1st 12 inchers ( shurely, hic ) Cheers Paul
Barry Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 But Barry the original is on Strata East label not Arista and it came out a couple of years before the 1st 12 inchers ( shurely, hic ) Cheers Paul Correct, but in my wisdom I prefer what comes out of the speakers to the paying public - and that 12" sounds sooooo much better than the Strata release.

You're so picky.
Soul Shrews Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Correct, but in my wisdom I prefer what comes out of the speakers to the paying public - and that 12" sounds sooooo much better than the Strata release. I see whatcha mean Barry Cheers Paul
Barry Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I see whatcha mean Barry Cheers Paul I suppose the Arista promo 12" was the first issue of the mix in it's entirety - I may be wrong.
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) Did the track also came out an the 'B' side of 'Space shuttle'?, I have it on a promo 12", seem to think it was but without hunting for it for an hour I can't remember. Edited November 15, 2007 by steveluigi

I have the 12" issue of SS - and I'm sure it wasn't on that, again, I may be wrong - something tells me it might have been on the flip of the 7". It might have been on the promo, I don't know, you're prob right. Edited November 15, 2007 by Barry

Cheers Paul
Soul Shrews Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Good old Gil - still keeping us up chatting. Cheers Paul
Steve G Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 ...and also available on US Arista 7" and 12". ...and UK Arista 12 The latest remix uses the Arista version. However despite the harsh words it's a classic record in it's own right.
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 ...and the most international record ever, it's been played on the Northern scene, the Jazz funk scene and the House scene, and it's still being played to this day. MASSIVE!!!
ChrisOD1964 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Have a listen to the remix (if you dare ) and i dared
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Yes I thought so, here is the copy of 'Space shuttle' that includes 'The Bottle', came out in 1990 on 'Castle communications' records (GIL TY 003). Not the drunken mix, starts of with the count up in french, full version though. Sorry about the Blurredness, was having a shufty at the same time .
Paulw Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I think it's been up on here before but this is worth seeing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I54DgVennXU
