Pete S Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 From an advert in Black Music, April 1974: New imports from... INVITATIONS NOLAN CHANCE MEL WILLIAMS PATTI YOUNG JERRY WILLIAMS OLLIE JACKSON STEINWAYS BEN AIKEN FRANKIE & THE CLASSICALS VEL VETS ROZETTA JOHNSON SHARON SOUL So I was wrong about Frankie & Classicals. Don't ever remember seeing the Steinways.
Sean Hampsey Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 im pretty sure Human Beinz came out on OOTP.... Sorry, but, (again from memory) I don't think it did. It was booted on Jeff King's Soul Sounds label though. Thanks for the list, so far, Mel & Pete. I do need a comprehensive list if anyone has one. Always had copies of the old Chris Burton ISC lists, from the early 70's, but some of those listed never actually appeared on OOTP. Need to know exactly what was pressed... and if you have any (of my missing numbers) for sale. Many thanks Sean

Sean Hampsey Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 My mistake, just got home and you are right, sorry, will check before I post next time Iz no problem. An easy faux pas. Crikey, if I checked every time I posted, I'd spend half my time checking. You're right to just get involved and discuss. Welcome and Enjoy! Sean

Sean Yes Mate, Wellcome aboard this Soul Source thread, and hopefully many others. Sharing knowledge is what It's all about, In many cases we are all still trying to piece things together. As is the case with the OOTP Label. We're all finding things out many years later through discussion. As Sean quite rightly says "You're right to just get involved and discuss." "Welcome and Enjoy!" Spot on. Edited November 16, 2007 by 45cellar
Godzilla Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Have we mentioned Sounds Orchestral - Ain't That Peculiar yet? I think I have a copy up in the cupboard of doom and it's on the greeny coloured version of the label. Was there ever really any kind of demand for that tune? And is it the only OOTP track booted from an LP? Don't think it was a single was it? Blimey - three questions! Godz
Ian Dewhirst Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 In Select-a-disc's defense, I don't think they ever pressed records but they did get supplies by people who did, and of course instigated the reissuing of in-demand RCA's, Okeh's etc by the parent companies. Out Of The Past was for the want of a better phase, blatant bootlegging.. which I don't think Select-a-disc ever did. Only by a technicality John. Selectadisc and our French Moroccan friend were in business for years. He pressed 'em in the U.S. and Selectadisc distributed 'em in the UK exclusively I seem to remember. You're quite right though - it wasn't as blatant as the O.O.T.P. stuff which I hated because even the labels were uninspiring..... Ian D

No there was no demand at the time to my recollection and I think it was the only album track on OOTP. Might be an idea for another thread though: "Ridiculous Bootlegs For Which There Was Never A Demand" For instance, Lou Courtney "Me And You Doing The Boogaloo" which was a Selectadisc boot. I never understood why this was bootlegged........ Ian D
