pikeys dog Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 From Manships UK price Guide: Dubious UK based early 70s reissue label with a somewhat erratic numbering system...(snip)... Numbers 5 to 32 were made from vinyl and had green or sometimes blue labels. From duplicate #32 Jerry Cook, the labels were white and the Out Of The Past was replaced by OOTP..... (snip).... You can send my 10p piece taped to the back of a £50.

Pauldonnelly Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 (edited) Inky Dinky and Do it to it were 72 torch spins that came out 00TP WHITE? Litlle Johnnie Blair/The Velvetts/ Frank Beverly on green or blue hit the scene mid 73???? Edited November 8, 2007 by PaulDonnelly
pikeys dog Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Doesn't explain the numbering system... unless they were two seperate "labels" Don't know why I'm arguing the toss over what order they were pressed in - they are shite and deserve throwing on the bonfire.

I AGREE...My point is and always has been for may years did the OOTP label prove that iIve got to find me somebody, If Thats What you wanted and Momas gone were in fact played at the Torch as it would appear that every other record bootlegged on the lable was indeed a Torch record. A listing anyone???

Paul R Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 (edited) I cunningly disguised my Lynne Randell many years ago in the hope of being able to pass it off as an original It was green/blue and the sctratched matrix numbers it as ISC 016. Paul Edited November 8, 2007 by Paul r

Guest Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) Now I know it aint a real lable but as a fledgling late days of the torch they were they to be purchased and I guess most who were around in those days did like wise. From the early white labels to to the blue and green ones with stars lol , the labels owners knew what we wanted. Now the rumour is it was Chris Burton and Otis Leavill?? whoever it was they made some tut, one thing Ive never got my head round was when the bootleg label finished. I was always under the impression no more came out after March 1973..ie 4 weeks after the Torch closed however there are several singles that were booted that later became known EARLY CASINO CLASSICS, eg Frank Beverly and The Velvets, were this ever played at The Torch? Has anyone got the list???? "Has anyone got the list????" Paul, Yep I documented every title listed, in numerical order in the UK price guide. Blue & green were first (according to the numerical system) The first white label design release was NUMBER WAS # 32 Jerry Cook. The LAST blue or green label was #32 also.. they duplicated several numbers within the series. release sequence of 19 in all of the blue or green releases are # 05, 08, 09, 09 (dup), 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32. then the WHITE LABEL. Some of the WHITE's are dog-rare as the label came to an end without distributing some titles. Paul I hope that helps. John Edited November 9, 2007 by john manship

Guest Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) Paul , I was always under the impression that Selecta Disc pressed them up and that Ness (SE) and Alan Day were involved In Select-a-disc's defense, I don't think they ever pressed records but they did get supplies by people who did, and of course instigated the reissuing of in-demand RCA's, Okeh's etc by the parent companies. Out Of The Past was for the want of a better phase, blatant bootlegging.. which I don't think Select-a-disc ever did. Edited November 9, 2007 by john manship

Regards Alan Alan, Green & the blue Tarpon's are both regular stock copies. The promo of which I've only seen the BLUE label, have a big siilver text DJ on them.. pretty damn rare as a DEMO too. So if there's is no GREEN DEMO that would make the blue tarpon the first release. Which ties up with the BillyThe Kid Emerson 45s on Tarpon which I've only experienced on BLUE label. But if a GREEN DEMO does exist.. it's back to the drawing board. John
