Thanks. link There is a sound file somewhere, i'll see if I can fish it out. it's only aminute though. the track is mostly instumental, up tempo dabcer. nice breaks in it, good hammond. I shouldn't really be sellingit this cheap.

It is £400. link Personally I think I'll just toddle across to King Bee Records in Manchester with me 400 notes and fill me car boot up with around 100 or so cheap and good quality secondhand 70s/80s soul albums. The 'soul scene' might not know them because they're not 45's. They are in all probability of equal quality. They are not rare. They are cheap and considerably better value imvfho.

If I have something that is hard to price I ask around as much as I can and try to put a reasonable price on it and then the buyer has a choice to buy it or not, it is always a risk when buying records that you will see something for less than you paid for it, it's part of the game. If something does not sell, I'll just lower the price until it does, or file it in the box labelled 'keep and bring to the grave'.

It would also depend on who was in the room when they were played as well and where in the country it was played. In reality anyone with a halfway serious collection of 70s/80s soul could pull out any number of common 5 quid album tracks and play them in a modern room and next to nobody would know them but it wouldn't turn a 5 quid record into a 400 one because of it. Mind you, saying that, it probably would in some peoples' view.

I don't think there is a diference in price between this and the yellow one. I have never seen it go through at the 50 mark. around $250, I'm very sure of that. Not seen one for several months now.

Silver/red, yellow/red and yellow/black. Some time back I bid and lost out as second highest bidder three times in a row at around $127, have also seen it sell in the region of £150 though. Just the usual case of drastic price fluctuations today.

Shite, seriously, total pants, throwaway unmemorable out of tune disco cack. I've found WAY better records in a charity shop. No wonder northern soul fans think modern soul is crap if that sort of stuff gets offered up to them as modern soul. Probably not known by your heroes because they probably took one listen and passed on it 20 odd years ago. You could quite easily have answered my original, and genuine, question by saying that it was the funk side that gave it the price tag.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine was over from America, he will remain nameless unless he wishes other wise, we were at a record fair & he started buying up copies of the chart hit Gloria Gaynor - "You never can say good bye". He told me they sell well back home, buy for 10p & sell for $5, cool. The next day he asked me if i knew the flip of "you never..." & i had to admit i never. Any way, a couple of days later i had to get some acetates cut, so for a laugh, i got it cut on a 7" acetate (the flip). I thought i'd give it a few spins out & see if anyone twigged. I had it sat in the back of my box at Kempston, the night Sam & Arthur were on. Sam said "whats this?" when he see it. I told him to have a listen on the portable & see if he knew it. "No, do you know this Arthur? No" Fair enough, i thought, cause neither did i. Here's the good bit. I gave it a play to Rob, he reacted with "Ow mooch is that f**ker", i said i didn't want to sell it, i wanted to play it & see if i could make it into a big record. Bearing in mind there was no name on the acetate, a total unknown, ha ha. He said, in his normal modest way, "it wont work for you, it needs a big name like ME behind it." "Ah, errrrm, oh, yep go on then Rob" i said, "seeing as you put it like that, you can have it, infact have it for nowt." The next weekend Rob gives it a spin at the start of his set. Brilliant! Packs the floor. He plays it in his second set. As he's doing so, a blokes just walked in off the street & is stood next to me. He said to me "Why's he playing a million seller?" "Dont know mate, go & ask him". He did. Oh dear, if i only had a camera at that second. I'm sorry. Very childish. But f***ing funny. Don't tell Rob.
