soulvillemartin Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Saw that a Beltone acetate was listed on JM`s auction, listened to it and to my ears it seems to be exactly the same song as Luther Thomas version of Upset the town? Curious as it is listed as a one-off? / Martin
pikeys dog Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Yep, sounds exactly the same to me - I've e-mailed John but not had a response yet.

Marc Forrest Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Its the same and has now been added by a further acetate which has the flipside "Who Slipped Out" on it. Whiel we are at it, Luther Thomas "She`ll stick by me" is one tune that you seldomly hear and see these days. Marc
Corbett80 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 You can buy either for under £100 on the actual issues as far as I was aware? Didn't you have both of these Vic?
Guest Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 (edited) Yes you're right, it didn't click in my head Little Luther was Luther Thomas, as the Little Luther I know of, is from Chicago and is called Little Luther Johnson. Anyhow, to correct matters I've added an extra separate acetate which is the flip of the "Upset the Town" 45 but can anyone guide me on the "extra title" on the flip of the "Upset" acetate.. "Sweet Pea" also fabulous R&B ?? is there a 45 of this title? Still I think the set of two with 3 titles could actually be a "one-off" or pretty damn close. Edited October 22, 2007 by john manship

Sold them both ages ago mate, good proper R&B records. The Upset The Town/Who slipped out you can pick up for £20.00 now and the She'll Stick By You for a little bit more I think. But these acetates are nice to have.

I actually got £75 for the copies of "Upset" & "She'll Stick" that I had..not had a copy of either for a while now, so £20 seems a little low. What about "Sweet Pea" on the flip of "upset the town" acetate ?? I have no reference on file for this title at all. Was this issued ?? There are TWO acetates one with two sides, the other has one side blank. So three tunes all together..2 acetates Edited October 22, 2007 by john manship
