shute Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Has The Embers on the other side, only seen this a couple of times before - licensed exclusively to Northern Soul Galore Productions I picked on of these up at our local car boot, strange back to back 45, this is the second one I've seen,
Steve G Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Has The Embers on the other side, only seen this a couple of times before - licensed exclusively to Northern Soul Galore Productions Yes this was a 1977 boot Pete. Got mine as soon as it came out from cough cough Russ's booth in the balcony. I was so young then

I was so young then Steve I have to slightly disagree with you there, I think this is later, maybe even 79/80 because the Embers was booted on Sidewalk in 1977 and the Jewels booted on MGM late 77, remember those blue vinyl 'demos'.

Yeah but no but yeah but....I stopped buying bootlegs in 1977 when the bigger lads told me it wasn't very "hip" And I did buy this. Both were big at Wigan at the time. So I am slightly disagreeing with you Pete
Tony Foster Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Yeah but no but yeah but....I stopped buying bootlegs in 1977 when the bigger lads told me it wasn't very "hip" And I did buy this. Both were big at Wigan at the time. So I am slightly disagreeing with you Pete You are 100% right. The MGM copy with the Embers on the flip did come out first. They were snapped up at the Casino. I remember being offered one for £3 at the time and the next month they were released on the MGM SPECIAL issue. You have got to remember that both sides were massive tunes at the time. KTF Tony

KTF Tony Sorry - still disagree - Embers came out on it's own first on Sidewalk.
Tony Foster Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Sorry - still disagree - Embers came out on it's own first on Sidewalk. I do agree with you regarding the Embers but this was the first press for the Jewels.
grant Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 yeah bought one of these at wigan, still got it
Steve G Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Sorry - still disagree - Embers came out on it's own first on Sidewalk. Yes OK and this one came and went very quickly at Wigan. As Tony says it was more expensive than most of the boots in Russ's booth, and it was a case of now you see it now you don't. Deffo 77 Pete.
