Angie Stone - Wish I Didn't Miss You. Ouch, when I first heard it I was blown away but now its like fingers down a blackboard!

Gladys Knight & The Pips - No One Could Love You More. This used to get me on the dance floor now it just seams to drown on and on and on and on and on.

What was your once faves that now make ya cringe.

The Devonnes - "I'm gonna pick up my toys" - spoiled by me playing it over and over when I first heard it

First Choice - "This is the house where love died" - same as the above!

I'll grow to love 'em again.....................eventually :D

and Ultra High Frequency - "We're on the right track" - loved it to start, but stopped loving it after many plays

If you loved it and now hate it, leave it for a couple of years.

A bit like soul web site forums....................................... but just a fortnight should suffice for those.

Agreed Baz. A top drawer double sider.

Is this as opposed to played out oldies? If so then none. I'm a loyal kinda guy.

Bazza my old friend are you sure it the tune or the fact the bloody things about 7 minutes long & you could do yourself permanent damage dancing to the whole tune??

Tunes that do my head in are: Gloria Jones-Tainted Love, adored it when I first heard it but now everytime I hear the intro all I can envisage is that to**er Marc Almond of Soft Cell singing.

Don Thomas-Come on train, absolute anthem at every venue in the 70's but you can get to much of a good thing & I'm afraid with this I have.

Brothers-Are you ready for this, played out as much as Checkerboard Sq's-Double cookin but not as good a dancer, makes me head for the smoking zone & I don't smoke.

Loads more I'm sure, just can't remember at present but I'm sure we'll be revisiting this subject numerous times.

Take care & be safe,

Spot. :)

p.s. Bazza you at Empress saturday?? How was the cd's??

Except that I never loved it, not even 'once'...

To say what I've probably said before . . . MOST records that are classed as 'newies' / 'top sounds' are mostly old hat, are played out (must be nearly WORN out) 45's. There is NO insentive to attend a SOUL do anywhere in the country on the grounds, that you've heard them all before!! Don't get me wrong, I do like a dance . . . but I've got to a point where I would only dance to my fave record of all time to appear ( "Paris Blues ". . . that is why I only dance at home!!!). Spend £1,000's or £100's on an overplayed 45 . . . they must be NUTS!!!

p.s. dance with no fag . . . forget it!!!!

THE FOOTSEE

You may laugh, but to some people (quite a few), this was their introduction to Northern Soul in the earlyish 70's!! If it was played as a 'New' sound now, I bet a $1000 it would have been accepted. Anyone got the balls, play it and see.

Still recon 'Paris Blues' is still the most underplayed 'oldie' ever!! A St.Ives Classic . . yeah!!
