Russ Vickers Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Just chillin' & playing some toons today & dragged out TW 'My Love with You' Coastal Records..............forgot just how brilliant this was.......even tho it goes on a little bit..........got me to thinkin' whether there was a 7 inch edit ????? I think it only came out on 12 but you never know. Probably common knowledge, but worth mentioning just how much this sounds like Tearra.........worth a few spins again methinks . Russ

Russ i have the 12 but have never seen a seven always thought it would be great at 3 and a half minutes instead of 7 minutes mark
Russ Vickers Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 i have the 12 but have never seen a seven always thought it would be great at 3 and a half minutes instead of 7 minutes mark Thats what I mean mate..............ok you can just fade out when your Djing, but would be so much better if there was a shorter mix, particularly as I quite like the end bit too. Russ
Reforee Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 TW only came out on 12", same production & producer as Tearra out of Atlanta Manny Campbell, it (TW) didnt sell in large quanties, so Im told, so its one of those sleepers i guess you wont be able to find when the word gets out. I seem to recall TW were part of or an offshoot of Tavasco, but not 100% certain The Man in Black

Thanks again. Russ
Steve G Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Thanks for that matey.........didnt realise it was the same production team as Tearra.........explains a lot. Thanks again. Russ Yeah back in the day Dave Hassle from Leighton Buzzcock was in touch with Manny and imported most of the product that he had available (excluding Tearra and The Nurons ). Gavin will remember that as he ended up aquiring the stock, and I ended up getting from Gavin one of each of the 12s on Coastal (there are a number of them). Think in the end he sold what he had left and couldn't shift to Chris King for pulping Over to you Gav.... TW has the same tune as Tierra but I don't think it's as good. Steve

Steve No, he let me have all the stock , but this 12" flew out the door. But looking at the stock sheets we only had five copies, all went in the first 2 weeks of listing then at £25 each. I speak to Manny every few weeks, we have a great un-released Rotations from him that we will be putting out next year on a limited press 45. Manny found 2 studio disc of the tune, one I've kept the other is in the hands of Mick H. Manny has no copies of any of the wax he cut left. Last year he put out a CD on Ebony Evans that sold well, it included an updated version of the Tierra track. This got a fair bit of turntable action on the modern scene. He has now pressed a limited 12" wax copy of this and has sent all of them to me. We will be sending these out to help the promotion of the cd further over the next few weeks to DJ's that replied to Malayka's promotions tread she put up a month ago.
John Reed Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I heard somewhere that My Love with You was released twice, maybe with a different flip, can anyone confirm this? Nice tune, shame about pressing quality, sounds as if it was recorded in a toilet.
Harrogatesoul Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Excellent record - Got mine from Rod @ Voices last year I think. Forgotten how good it is! Rich

Dave Thorley Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Yes Dave and it sounded bloody FANTASTIC over Mr Maleady's wall of sound at The Orwell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seem to remember it had folks talking about it all night DEFINITELY one for the future As Steve G said, the B side 'Freedom' did get a limited release a few years ago and that is also FABULOUS!!!! Cheers Steve THE TWO WILL MAKE A GREAT 45 RELEASE, AS I SAID SOME TIME NEXT YEAR. IN REPLY TO SEVERAL PM'S WE MAY WELL DO A FEW DJ COPIES A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE RELEASE
Steve Plumb Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Dave this track should have been on the flip side of the "We want freedom" 45 as "When he slowly moves away" but for some reason a mix up and they put "Don`t ever hurt me" on instead,DH had the tape of "WHSMA" and brought these 45s off MC thinking he was getting the "WHSMA" track but ended up with "DEHM" instead,i brought one off him at the time for "We want freedom" which has been played at the Soul Essence afternoon sessions by Me and S Plumb, thanks for the clip as i`ve allways wondered what it sounded like every time i look at the 45. cheers. Dave f........... Hi Dave yeah, this is the story that Dave Halsall told us many years ago at Yarmouth! Imagine if it was as it originally should have been, that 45 would have been gold dust now (and it ain't too easy to find as it is!) Mr T - PLEASE make sure there's no mix up this time Cheers Steve
