There 's a record on the Soul Club site: https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Damita_Jo_-...ll_Be_There.ram

This is the same tune as 'Stand by Me'. Doe anybody know anthing about this record. When was it recorded - before or after Stand by Me. Label? Value? Thanks in advance.

It is merely a straight answer disc to "Stand My Me", just like her "I'll Save The Last Dance For You" was an answer disc to the Drifters. Answer discs were very popular in the early 60s, I put a whole CD's worth out when I was at Westside ("Was That Your Vinyl Answer"?) and we've just done another one at Ace called "The Answer To Everything" - which includes "I'll Be There".

It was originally released on Mercury, value I would say is negligible and Damita Jo's full name wasn't Damita Jones, it was Damita Jo DuBlanc....

...Anything else I can tell you?

...only that "I'll save the last dance" was done twice, once as a straight answer to the Drifters at the time, then remade for Ranwood in the late 60's in a dancier version which was a Levine spin in in 72'ish...

Haven't heard the Ranwood one for a long time, but I've got a UK mercury issue, to me doesn't sound any different- Could be age playing tircks though sad.gif
