Guest Andy Kempster Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 anyone got a soundclip and any more info on it please...???
45cellar Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 you're right, brilliant track is it pricey then? No not really, the third edition has it at £50 DEMO & £40 Stock Copy. It's just that I'm after so much at the moment, and these days with limited funds. Doesn't turn up everyday, but you do see them from time to time. I came close to winning one a couple of times on ebay but was outbid at the last minute.

45cellar Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 (edited) i see what you mean does third edition have a website? Sorry I meant Manships 3rd Edition Price Guide., and he has published a 4th recently. Unfortunately I don't think that John has a copy of Betty Lavette at the moment. The two copies that I saw on ebay, one was a DEMO looked brilliant, I wish I could have been there at the end of bidding but I work nights. Sometimes, I win more when I'm there at the end of bidding as I can't afford leave a high bid on everything just in case I spend too much. Edited October 15, 2007 by 45cellar

Looks like It's Mint too - £40 A BARGAIN One of those records that you would expect to be more expensive. Sheer Class from Betty Lavette - There you go AndyK, you asked first. Guest Kevin J Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 i asked bettye about this record when we djed prior to her last performance here, and she said: "I think this is an awful song and am surprised anyone likes it at all ... I recorded it because i had a crush on one of the songwriters ... anything for love" she is a peach.
Emjaygee Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 In line with another current topic, the flip side is a fabulous beat ballad type thing, "the tables will turn" or something like.

Hi EmJayGee, 'Tables Will Turn' is the flip to Sandy Hollis' brilliant 'I'm Tempted', a gorgeous double sider also on Big Wheel, the flip to Bettye's is the excellent 'Tears in Vain'

Bettye actually refused to sign my copy about 20 years ago ("I'll autograph anything else you put in front of me but I ain't signing that!"). Her dislike of it must run hellish deep...

paultp Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 must only be worth a tenner then I bought one off ebay last year for 21 quid, put it back on ebay a few months later after trying to sell it here and got 26 quid. It might be worth 40 but you can probably get it for 25

The Strange World Of Northern Soul.
