Jaco Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 Fascinating stuff as always, Bob. Great group harmony in evidence, Drapers, Paramounts, Tempos - my kind of stuff Not got to the Edettes yet, but what can you tell us about them?
boba Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Fascinating stuff as always, Bob. Great group harmony in evidence, Drapers, Paramounts, Tempos - my kind of stuff Not got to the Edettes yet, but what can you tell us about them? The Edettes is Cincinatti, it's on the obscure Ohio jewel label and not the louisiana label. The side I played has an early transitional doowop / soul sound but it's late 60s because the other side is girl group funk. Jewel was a custom label, as far as I know, so I don't know if there is any connection between anything on the label. There is that fabulous originals record, which is a well known funk 45, and there is a killer holy grail sweet soul title on the label by the four corners. Sorry I don't know more about the actual group the Edettes. Thanks.
