Show Rob Wigley Your Support

Recommended Posts

I'll start this, as I've never really DJ'd there, so have no real motive for doing this. Other than I know how hard it is as a promoter, when your up, people want to knock you down.

Don't really know him, only spoken to him a a few times and he seems a nice guy. But he has done a fantastic job with the weekender and I know first hand that many artists in the US have been so pleased to perform there.

So lets be having you words of support for the guy, may help in the future or lift his spirits

Don't know if people know what's happened with him - saw the topic last night but it was all hints and innuendos so I have no idea what it's about, but apologies if I missed a post explaining whats been happening.

Both Rob and Karen are good friends of ours and whatever has gone off here is very sad indeed, I've not DJ'd at the weekender since 2004 but did the first few and Rob's commitment and professional approach to all aspects of the event were second to none, you can sometimes put your heart and soul into something and still be pushed out of the picture, you both have our support and we are down the end of a phone if you need a chat.

nice one Dave

as we're all getting getting second hand news on here we really don't know the score so it's best not to judge all ready were getting stories about people waiting in the wings to take their place if this is true then that's out of order let the true facts come out first but it a shame because rob and Karen have worked hard i remember speaking to Karen just after the weekender in march they was organizing this one on now so i'm with Dave giving them some support :(

i don't think it's premature showing support we all know something going on by the reports coming out of prestatyn there's nothing wrong in showing support to freinds what ever went on

And I'm sure you'll never hear the full story. But it does seem that Rob one of the main movers behind the very sucessful weekender has parted company with them and I happy to show some support, even at this early stage.

Well 1) I don't know Rob and 2) I don't know whats going on, so on that basis how am I supposed to show support for someone I don't know and don't know whats happened to him? Not saying I won't or son't want to, but I don't know anything about it, thats why I asked what was going on!

well, ive read some right old coblers on here, but, this takes the biscuit....how can we give anyone any support, if we dont know what were supporting them in......how about a bit of information here

I'll just close the tread, it's more trouble than it's worth. As I have said Rob & Karen Wigley have been asked to leave the management of the weekender. Will anyone know the full story ?, I dought it. But who cares, if only for their contribution in the past to the UK soul scene I gave people that are aware to some extent, of recent happenings a chance to voice some positive remarks and support. If you not aware of anything that has recently happen or don't not know who they are, don't contribute. If you are asking for 'Stop the car as you drive by' blow by blow account, i'm sure that can be found if you try. As has been said by several on here and comfirmed by people at the event, they were asked to leave after an incident at the weekender. Little thanks for all the years they have put in, what ever happened

if rob and karen have had an disagreement surely the rest of the midnight hour team have got to thrash it out with pontins and try and get them back on board

I hope they dont leave them stranded, pontins must make loads on these out of season weekenders, and I have always enjoyed them especially the showcases

anybody know the reasons yet??

Just had a lengthy chat with Rob & Karen Wigley.

Karen has attended a close friends funeral today so is obviously in a bit of a state.

They have asked me to thank everybody for their kind words & support.

Thanks,

There are three types of people on this scene,

1. The Originals and Rare- Its like a hard to find record that you have been looking for over the years and could never afford, these people are very few and far between, and what what you can call true friends for life.

2. The Reissues - These are the people who come onto the scene, and think they should be the be all and end all, believe me you're not!

3. The Boots - The people who have come back after being to a couple of dos in the 7ts, think they know it all, the wannabe crowd who still wear the baggies and badges who think its just the same as it was at the last event they went too in the 7ts.

Karen and Rob have my full support both in the past, present and indeed the future, and anything that they decide to do can only be a good thing. These two people fit into catogory 1 in my book.

Rob & Karen definitely fall into category No1,known them both over 20yrs two nicer people you couldn't wish to meet, so whatever occurs they know they have massive support behind them.

2 very important people on the soul scene who go about their business in a very proffessional way, whatever venture they do in the future i'm sure will be a success as no one cannot say anything about their commitment to the scene.

Sorry, but I don't think your comments are called for. Where do people like you get off - generalising about the type of people on the scene. What's it got to do with what's happened to Karen and Rob Wigley anyway?

Who cares when people actually got into the scene. It's attitudes like yours that creates the negative political clap-trap because you think you have a right to criticise others. What are you - a qualified psychiatrist who has met everyone on the scene :hypo:

What a SNOB

Agree too  He forgot the 4th type of person on the scene ! Those that think being into this music makes them some kind of special person who has the right to brand & ridicule people that they don't even know.

Something tells me we may have stumbled across the Chief Inspector of the Soul Police here !

& if ever there was an off topic uncalled for post then that was it !

no 1 , im no snob , no 2 in my opinion this isnt political clap trap ,and further more the poeple i reffered to as the baggie pants brigade , are those who sit and moan the scene isnt atracting new blood are the same ones that are slating the younger kids who do come on the scene, and dont tell me isnt true cause i have seen it and just kook at the thread a couple of weeks ago. and no i am no trained psychiatrist but you lot just sit and listen to the same shite week in week out, move on for christ sake, this is 2007 not 1967

I'm a 4th type - An MP3 of a tailor made track  - I used to be active on the scene, am not any longer, still collect to a certain extent, have no idea about the current big tracks, what stuff is worth, who's in vogue or not (and don't care). Still love the music and always will but I couldn't care less about the rest of it really.
