Mike Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Have had a bit of interest in a trial of a more all era soul based forum Idea being offer members place can use site features to discuss a wider and looser range of soul related stuff rather than the main - more rare/northern/rnb/xover soul based "all about the soul" forum All Era Soul - being the intial name - a wide loose range of all era soul being the scope so thought give it a go - see what happens as said trial sort of thing - important points will be does have effect on rest of site, demand and use, and also the running of it
Guest Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Have had a bit of interest in a trial of a more all era soul based subforum Idea being offer members place can use site features to discuss a wider and looser range of soul related stuff rather than the main - more rare/northern/rnb/xover soul based "all about the soul" forum All Era Soul - being the intial name - a wide loose range of all era soul being the scope so thought give it a go - see what happens as said trial sort of thing - important points will be does have effect on rest of site, demand and use, and also the running of it at moment it is a sub-forum and last post not visible on the main front page of site may move to a main forum if works better ← Mike i thought the "All About Soul" forum already covered this, can't really see the point of fracturing the site anymore. Mike Posted February 27, 2005 Author Posted February 27, 2005 Mike i thought the "All About Soul" forum already covered this, can't really see the point of fracturing the site anymore. Brett ← Ta for thoughts Brett, such always appreciated Intial thinking behind it is that the "all about the soul" goes on as it is same sort of scope thats been discussed in there before Adding an all era section aim is to give the opportunity to expand rather than fracture The name and looseness of it all should mean if there's a demand, members can go off on stuff that up to now hasn't had any or that much coverage in the main part of site. In a bit of an anti-category mood at moment but basically idea is with a wide scope that can cover all sorts, all styles, genres, latest releases, current plays, radio and so on, which may not be appreciated by all in the main section. But can be easy dipped into by members if/when want to Hopefully at least above makes where coming from a bit clearer, as said is a trial sort of thing and as in past and now have had interest, thought give it a run out Shouldnt affect main part - (thats main concern) and depending how goes/interest/demand similar for similar can be sorted One factor have to mention is know for a fact that, the tired old "this is sh*te posts" often get when discussing varied styles has and still does put off members posting varied non-mainstream stuff in main bit. as said ta for thoughts Brett mike
Guest Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 Fully understand Mike, especially the S***e comments, and agree this could discourage members from posting something that they truly believe in. Right that has me onboard. Brett

So were do we start, R Kelly and Happy People or J Lo's arse??

Right that has me onboard. Me too, I think that would be a major selling point. Hopefully, we'll past the old scenario of original post: I'm new to the forum, is Tained Love a popular tune? reply 1: It's **** reply 2: It's ****, your a ****** end of thread............
Guest dundeedavie Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 hmmm this could be a good area for me .....never admit it to the main list though lolol soon in dundee i'm guesting at a "soulful house and broken beats " night and i'll use this bit to post a playlist which could well contain anything from latin , acid jazz , jazz funk ...loads of 70's and philly and maybe the odd r+b number you never know Davie
Petebangor Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I am isterested in any one's thought on how to get access to "new" soul stuff, to me anyway, whether it's classed as a Northern 60's recording or new release track i..e on line radio shows, soulies' own web pages, CD/tape swaps etc etc. Any thoughts anybody? ← I buy a lot of new stuff, mainly cd's.I get to hear the new stuff on Searling's show,Smooth FM on Sunday afternoon,Mike Stephens Solar Radio,Sun evening,Geoff Bingham Solar Radio,Paul Philips on Solar if you're into Soulful house/garage. I'm also on the Modern Soul Topica list, very informative with some very knowledgeable people on there. There's a couple of good websites www.soulsorts.co.uk which is run by Roger Williams who's a member on here. It's very good for recent release stuff. As is www.soulwalking.co.uk I do a lot of cd swaps too,so I manage to pretty much cover all the new release stuff. If you want a compilation of new tunes I'll bring one to Prestayn for you. Cheers Pete
