Dunn & Bruce Street on Devaki also have The Moment Of Truth which again is superb. Edited September 18, 2007 by Guest

Harrogatesoul Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Cheers guys - and yes some great 45s on the labels. Thanks for your help so far. Rich
Guest Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Had multiples of the Truth - Coming Home & Dunn Bruce Street - The Moment Of Truth 45s and recommended them to pretty much everyone that I knew! Two of my fave tracks and still (for now??) fairly easy to find.
Guest Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Curiously the two involved on Devaki are related to The O'Jays. The creator (and owner?) was an ex-O'Jays (Bill Isles or Bobby Massey) and Dunn Pearson have been collaborting with The O'Jays in their Emi recordings. All is a Cleveland people "affair"...
Baz Atkinson Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 TRUTH BLOOMING BRILLIANT HAD A BUCKET LOAD ONCEOVER ,ANOTHER THAT IS DRYING UP-COMING HOME IS BRILLIANT. BAZ A
Soul Shrews Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Much longer version of "Coming Home" on the LP which may put some off. Think both LP and 45 are wonderful meself................other good tracks on the LP too Cheers Paul
John Benson Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Would I be right in thinking this group 'Truth' are not the same as the group who did "What Direction" on Roulette
Paul McKay Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 D&BS had this album too: DUNN & BRUCE STREET DEVAKI 3003 US OFFICIAL BUSINESS - PROMO Not sure if it was ever available commercially as have only seen my promo copy.

Sebastian Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Mine are issues. Sky blue label with dark blue text, silver background on the main piece of the soc logo. I think you are on about two different 45s. "Come Back Home" and "Coming Home" are different records.

Djmelismo Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Cleveland act the Truth included the amazing vocals of Larry Hancock, who used to front another Cleveland group called S.O.U.L. who cut a number of funky instrumentals and some nice vocal tracks, in particular the classic soul choon "This Time Around".
Soul Shrews Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Are all copies of "Comming Home" Demo,s as I,ve not seen an issue ? Was issued as soul45er has already mentioned flip is "Touch Me" Devaki DK 4001 Yes djmelisimo Larry Hancock lead vocalist and produced by Bobby Massey Think Truth were a duo rather than a group as Mr Massey states in his thank you"s on the album sleeve "(thanks) To Leo (Green) and Larry (Hancock) whos time has come, and rightfully so ! This is only thr beginning.........of TRUTH " Devaki is the name of one of Bobby Massey"s kids Cheers Paul
Guest Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Are all copies of "Comming Home" Demo,s as I,ve not seen an issue ? Guest mel brat Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Would I be right in thinking this group 'Truth' are not the same as the group who did "What Direction" on Roulette It's possible that the 'Truth' on Roulette are the group who became Moment Of Truth...(?), as M.O.T recorded for the same label prior to Salsoul.

Both Devaki releases mentioned and the Temptations version of "Coming Home" were widely publicised at the time of release in articles/reviews in 'Echoes ' etc., as a consequence they were widely imported. Soul Bowl also had copies of the Truth album. The Dunn & Bruce St. and Truth sides on Devaki are still certainly underated however. Guest Fredrik Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Would I be right in thinking this group 'Truth' are not the same as the group who did "What Direction" on Roulette Was this released on Roulette?? Have it on a Philly Groove 12 with "Thank you girl for hanging on" on the other side (think it's on the 45 too...?). Absolutely superb tune IMO. Don't know if it's the same group.
John Benson Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 (edited) Fredrik, I've got it wrong - if you have the record, I only assumed it was on Roulette as there is a group of that name on the label Thanks for the correction, I only heard it once about 12 years or so back and have never come across it since. As you say, whether it's the Cleveland group or not - who knows? Can you post up a scan or the writer credits etc, there may be a clue there Edited December 17, 2007 by John Benson
Simon M Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 (edited) Same group John/Fredrick . Quite an obscure release too Edited December 17, 2007 by Simon M

Quite an obscure release too Yes of course it's the same (A.Boyd/Larry Hancock credits on 12) One wonders why this one from 1981 is so hard when the Devaki stuff from 1980 (at least the lp is from that year) is easy to find...
