chrissie Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 (edited) I was just having a mooch round evil bay to see if there was anything that caught the eye when I cam accorss this seller. He has quite a few cheapies listed, and on some of them the postage is £2 and on other records he has listed the postage as £4.75. I can't work out why it is more expensive to send one record than to send another one or how it could possible cost £4.75 to send a record from north wales to Bedford. Have mailed him for explanation so will wait and see what his reply is. Is this just another way of ensuring a higher price for a record. QoFxx Edited September 16, 2007 by chrissie

shute Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Mark, if you weren't right in what you say there, you'd be wrong .... oh my god its a sunday again, talking rubbish
Guest Bearsy Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I would think the £4.75 charge is for Special Delivery - Next day mail, basically your records are insured for loss, breakage etc. and next day delivery guaranteed by 1pm. I would think the lesser price postage is for normal mail or 'Signed For' mail. Regards - Mark Bicknell. Mark is right chrissie, it does cost £4.75 for that service and it is worth it for the more expensive tunes, you dont have with most sellers but then thats your choice, I hope its Linda Griner for my birthday present

I realise that Mark, and I would be more than happy pay the extra for anything over the £30 point, it would be nice to have the option to request insurance on a cheapie or pay his normal postage cost of £2. If the record makes £10 it puts the price up by almost 50%. QoFxx Edited September 16, 2007 by chrissie
chrissie Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 thanks chrissie you wont have to pay the higher price if you dont wan too, just take the cheaper option There is no cheaper option on this item. But I may of made a total prat of myself as I have just looked again and it may be the more expensive version that is up for grabs which manship has listed at £200, but would he of listed it at 99p if it was?. and if that was the case shouldn't you have an option to pay the extra, which of course you would on a record you will of probably paid £150 for. But the point of this thread is not really about this seller in particular just how some postage costs sometimes put me off bidding on some cheaper records. For example, I once paid £3.25 for postage on a £10 record and it was sent normal mail, my own fault as I forgot to check postage costs before I bid on it. QoFxx
Chalky Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 If your a seller and being paid by paypal it makes sense to send everything special delivery if only to protect yourself from unscrupulous buyers
chrissie Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 If your a seller and being paid by paypal it makes sense to send everything special delivery if only to protect yourself from unscrupulous buyers I agree, but he has the majority of his records listed with postage at £2. This is really what I am trying to get at. Why £2 for some and £4.75 for others with no option of choosing normal postage. QoFxx

QoFxx The seller probably got a good idea what the record may go for and for that reason will only send it out special delivery, just buy it woman and stop moaning
chrissie Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 Have you thought about mailing him and asking him why? or if he will send at the reduced P&P rate? Have done. Will wait and see his reply. I don't want this to be seen as a thread slagging off this seller so I am going to remove the link from my original thread, but I am just curious to why. QoFxx

If I was selling a record that was possible going to reach the £150 point I certainly wouldn't list the starting price as 99p just incase. QoFxx
