Guest Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 current value please on golden world demo was it only pressed once on this label
45cellar Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 current value please on golden world demo was it only pressed once on this label Only released once on Golden World GW-40 The Stock Copy is Extremely Rare. Manships 3rd Edition has the White DEMO AT £150 and the Stock Copy at £300 I'm not sure what the current prices are though. As far as I know only one Label Variation Exists for GW-40 However some of the releases have a couple of slightly different Variations to the Credits, Layout etc Suggesting different Runs at the pressing Plant, whilst keeping the same release number. GW-20 Has 2 Different White DEMO's and 2 Different Stock Copies We have a scan of the other White DEMO on Hitsville Soul Club of America I hope that this helps. Re-Recorded for the Contempo release I believe.

Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Just a thought --i always suspected summat dodgy afoot--many years ago when 3 records on Golden World all turned up at the same time in bulk all on white demo,s Carl Carlton--Nothing no sweeter than love Tamiko Jones--I,m Spellbound Tony Michaels---I love the life i life In 30 yrs i,ve seen 2 Carl Carlton yellow issues, none of Tamiko Jones and 2 of Tony Michaels --whereas the w.d.,s of all 3 have gone from £20 to £50, and now i hear £150--£200. There was supposed to be a limited run of all 3 yet i watched Tamiko Jones (when she was with John Abbey and Georgie Fame sign about 200 copies ,one night!!! Just an observation Tony COLEBY

Just an observation Tony COLEBY quite agree mate, the spellbounds were all over the place years ago, most of us around derby had a copy and thought they were dubious, hence most of them being sold alongside obvious re-issues in job lots ect, although this doe not explain why my wd spellbound went for 100 on the ebay thing (still dont think it was a proper copy though )

Modernsoulsucks Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I think Bob Mays had loads of these 3 titles at one time. He used to have a typed list in his place of stock on GW ,Wingate and Ric-Tic and he had or did have hundreds. In 79 most of those three had long gone. Think Martin Koppell got most. He did still have loads of Sunliners which is about £75 now. I bought 25 but had trouble selling so no doubt they ended up cheap in collections. Doesn't mean they were bootlegs. I have the regular issue of Tamiko Jones and it does have T1 scratched in and ZTSC matrix scratched in too. ROD

Guest mel brat Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 (edited) quite agree mate, the spellbounds were all over the place years ago, most of us around derby had a copy and thought they were dubious, hence most of them being sold alongside obvious re-issues in job lots ect, although this doe not explain why my wd spellbound went for 100 on the ebay thing (still dont think it was a proper copy though ) I think that Soul Bowl picked up a fairly large batch in the mid-70s. I had my copy from there and had a damned good look at it. However, as even the distictive white glue used to stick on the label was the same as other legit Golden World releases I had, I assumed them to be A-OK. Nothing I've heard since has changed that opinion. I just think a fair sized batch simply "came through" in the late seventies, then slowly got scarcer as they were sold, as happened occasionally back when records could still be found in quantity. The same thing happened with "Scotts On Swingers", Connie Clark, Frank Beverly etc. I don't actually know if there was a bootleg of "I'm Spellbound" anyway. Edited September 18, 2007 by mel brat
